Looking for Xperia Z3

Hi Ozbargainers,

I am looking to buy the Xperia Z3, but cannot seem to find in on Kogan.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the phone itself? The cheaper the better

Thanks heaps in advance.

Telstra hasn't got them yet but they are thinking start of November. And it will be $800

Right now Sony stores have them for $844.

Not many places have them yet, try waiting a few weeks.

Btw, I am looking out for one as well.

    • Thanks for the advice.

Keep me posted with your updates too.

      Thanks heaps.
      Chloe

      • $819 from Telstra to be exact.

        • Did they increase the price? Was $800 and $619 for the compact

          @PVA:

Both wrong, but i was closer :p

Customers can also purchase the Sony Xperia Z3 outright for $816 RRP.
          http://exchange.telstra.com.au/2014/09/30/the-sony-xperia-z3…

          It's $799 for Optus or $960 (no shit…)from Vodafone

        • @crazycs:
lol, Vodafone is charging more than Sony and it's going to have more bloat on it (from Voda) than the one you buy from Sony…

That has got to be the dumbest thing ever.

        • @ProjectZero: There's no bloat on any carriers phones.

Even when you buy the Optus phone it's as vanilla as buying outright. No boot screen and no Optus apps installed. ONLY when you insert the Optus SIM do things begin to install.

        • @crazycs:

That's weird, last phone I had from a Virginmobile, had a Optus boot screen and optus apps pre-loaded…

          It was a GS3

        • Virgin is Optus

        • @Mikinoz:

Yup, my point was that it came pre-loaded with bloatware.

        • Ahh thats what i get for not reading all the posts :)

        • @ProjectZero: I've gone through three Z3s from Optus so far (first two faulty) all three came bloatware free.

        • @crazycs:

          thanks.

        • @crazycs:
          what bloatware exactly from Optus?

        • +1

          @PVA: I said bloatware free.

        • @crazycs:
          sorry, you did too.
I wonder if it is a standard Sony version and you can get Sony updates instead of waiting for the carriers approval.
The Telstra version will have some telstra stuff added, telstra boot screen, some apps preinstalled, a few Sony apps modified to point to Telstra instead of another service.

        • @PVA: I've already played with the Telstra Z3 and the only thing on it was the boot and Telstra One app.

        • @crazycs:

Are you an employee as only the Z3 compact is released atm by Telstra. No stores have stock as they are not released because of the firmware problem. Talking to a manager there still isnt a firm date for sale.

Check the TrackID, I bet when it scans and finds the song it refers you to a Telstra site to buy, rather than what Sonys version does. The Telstra phones have a few little things like that, not just the boot and T-one app (if it was only that then Telstra would not have the long delay of a firmware problem.) They dont add a lot compared to years ago though.
Unfortunately when Telstra has its own specific firmware any updates go through Telstra and either take a long time or are never released. Vodafone and Optus seem to update nearly straight after Sony makes the update.

  • Clove.co.uk have them for 357.50 GBP plus 17 GBP shipping, total cost is AUD $689. Or $709 with fast shipping (DHL).

That's for black and copper, white is more expensive.

You'd have to send it back to the UK for warranty.

    • That's not a 4gx version that will work in Oz.

  • Eglobal have it for $669 + shipping, bought from them before and fast delivery, 5 working days I think.

  • Do you want the compact or normal version?

I got the Xperia Z3 from a Sony Kiosk in Parramatta. $849 when i bought it, but it comes with 2 years warranty (as opposed to 1 year from service providers according to the Sony staff)

    • It's two years from Telstra and I assume optus.

    • +1

I think any phone manufacturer is legally required to have 24 month warranty now here in Aus. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

  • I have a new z3 compact if you are after that, open to offers.

    • Around what price are you willing to sell it?

      • Was hoping for 600

        • +1

          Isn't that telstras price.

Eglobaldigitalcameras has the for $529 plus $29 post for the Optus model.

        • No idea haven't really looked, its an Optus model supplied with ps4

        • +1

Ah ok. I'm not really in any rush to buy it. Knowing that Sony prices drop quickly, I won't be surprised if I can find it for under $500 by Christmas. That, along with an eBay 15% off code somtime in the future, I might be able to get this in the low $400s. Unless you're willing to go sub $450, I'll probably just wait 2 months or so and get it at that price.

        • Cool maybe wait then, your right though Sony and Samsung prices drop quickly

  • Remember there are a few versions, get the one hat will have the new 4gx for Australia ( not sure what the model is, I am sure whirlpool will know)

Got to say unless I find one super cheap I will buy from Sony rather than Telstra ( or other carrier branded phone) just so I can get timely updates when Sony releases them not months and months ( if ever) waiting on a carrier to approve it.

    • 4GX is the 700Mhz spectrum, according to gsmarena, the version of Xperia Z3 that has this spectrum is the D6653 and D6616.
(Didn't see before, but D6603 and D6643 also support 700Mhz)

The version of Xperia Z3 Compact that has this is the D5803 and D5833.

I've got the D6653 from Sony Kiosk, not too sure how i can confirm if it actually has it or not…

      • the may support 700MHz but they can be different bands cant they. something like US is band 20 and we will use band 28.

I read on whirlpool the sony store ones are fine D6653 is what you want for Australia.

        just found it. http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers…

dwi has it for 655 w/ free shipping (or so i believe) seems to support the correct bands for aus as listed above by pva. compact seems to be 535 if it matters

    • I will have a look. Their web site is off line atm.

This page (http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Default.aspx) is currently offline. However, because the site uses CloudFlare's Always Online™ technology you can continue to surf a snapshot of the site. We will keep checking in the background and, as soon as the site comes back, you will automatically be served the live version.

      • seems to be online again now

        • great price and it seems the right model. says free post too. Would it be a non-branded model?

Anyone know what their service is like and what they are like for warranty?

        • +1

@PVA: I've only purchase some cheap items from DWI, service seemed fine.
As for warranty and returns you'd probably be better off going directly to sony or from what I've heard anyway.

seems some DWI coupons are currently valid also

recommend using paypal in case you do need to resort to escalating a claim
