How to Find Tyre Prices?

I need some new tyres, and obviously want to compare prices. But the web store-fronts of all the standard tyre places all seem to force to you "enquire" in order to find a price, making it almost impossible to check out the price/quality/brand trade-offs… the one exception is their catalogues which do mention prices for specials, but not comprehensively.

So my question is whether there is a reliable comprehensive tyre-price listing anywhere?

Thanks

Gordon

I know it's old school but you could start with catalogues:

If you have a common car (I don't) and/or common size tyres, then you might find what you want in the catalogue.

This might be better, either punch in your tyre size or vehicle details and it will show you deals from multiple stores
    http://www.tyresales.com.au/

  • try looking up reviews of tyres, and they'll usually say the price to give you a ballpark to work with.

just curious what size you're after

  • I know, it seems tyre shops are still a bit behind in the online world. I would start here http://www.tyresales.com.au to get an understanding of prices.

Then google the tyres you are interested in for reviews.

I would suggest you then call around the local tyre shops in your area for these prices (and possibly recommendations).

  • Very common size as I'm replacing the OEM tyres on a Mazda 3 (these were Bridgestone B250 in size 195/65R15/91V).

Replacing with same is 177 per tyre on tyresales.com.au, so thinking of dropping down perhaps to something like Continental Conticomfortcontact or Pirelli P1 or … similar.

Driving is 90% urban driving in traffic and 10% family holiday country road trip so don't need high performance, just decent grip and reasonable longevity (low noise would be nice too).

Annoying that I have to call each place and ask individually the prices of 5 or 6 different tyres.

  • Depending on the size, I have found stgeorgetyres.com.au to have the best price online. My tyres are $105 each there, $225(!) each at any store around where I live.

    • Hmmm, prices are so good it's hard to believe… The Bridgestone B250 is 105 each compared to 177 elsewhere… How can they do it?

      • Ah, shipping cost is 190, so cost now 150ish now

  • try costco first, if you have membership..

Well, eventually ended up going for the Bob Jane "buy 3, get 1" special on Conticomfortcontact tyres at $138 each, thus total cost of $414, so reasonably happy with that.

  • No Costco in WA… :-(
