Negative. 32gb 5s is around 500-550 well depending on the condition. I saw a 5s for 450 but it's like 6/10 condition.
That being said he's right about the price for iPhone 5. Iphone 5 probably cost around 350-400 now
iPhone 5 16GB would be around $270 now. Maybe $300-350 for the 32GB version.
I sold my IPhone 564Gb on gumtree for $500 yesterday and consider myself lucky.
a 16gb iphone 5 will get you about 300-350 if it's in good condition… iphone 5S 16gb may get your around 500 ish..
I asked Apple about the trade-in value of an iPhone 5s when recently buying an iPhone 6 and they indicated the value would be up to $250, subject to the phone's condition. Needless to say, I sold it privately for more.
Sell on gumtree or eBay. Trade in prices are max $250 for iPhone 5. I got $335 for a 16GB and $480 for a 64GB recently.
I was offered $310 for a PERFECT like new iPhone 5S (always in a case with a screen protector, space grey 16Gb).

What if your iphone 5 had broken ( accidentally of course) through a moisture problem where connections no longer work - but it is still under the 2 year warranty. Then Apple will either replace it free of charge or offer an upgrade very cheaply. Just saying - " I know nothing" Just an observation from a broken phone user !!!!

I'm pretty sure they don't which is a good thing for you because you will get ripped off. You could get $500 for your iphone 5 depending on what it is, slightly more/slight less i'm not really up to date with iphone 5 prices. But let's say it's around the $500 mark, then if Apple did have a buy back scheme, they would probably give you $200.
