Sturdy in-Car Smartphone Holder $9.95 Delivered @ COTD

40

Found this car window smart phone holder for under $10 delivered from COTD.

I bought a couple as stocking fillers using the $10 vouchers from the recent Eneloop COTD deal, and thought other Ozbargainers might be likewise interested.

For new users without the $10 voucher, it may still be an ok deal (as they can buy a second one free with the new user referral credit).

Unsure when this deal expires.

  • Do "Adhesive-free sticky grip" really work , short/long term ? Am concerned about dropping off straight under a pedal while driving …

    • I haven't received mine yet, so cannot comment on reliability. It does say it comes with a 12 month warranty.

    • works fine first few times but once the sticky part collects up enough dust the phone can go flying on corners and bumpy roads.

as long as you keep it clean its fine but mine seems to be a magnet for dust.

    • I had a different version of this (so experience with this might be different) but my HTC ONE M7 would "peel" off the sticky surface in direct sun.

It seemed the gel would heat up and allow the device to slip off.

I've never found a cheap one reliable (and i've never purchased expensive ones)

  • Cheap ones like this one have a flawed design, the use of the bendable arm is prone to wobble, and the longer it is, the worse the wobble. I tried a similar one for $5.95 delivered from shoppingsquare. It was useable but did wobble.

Eventually bit the bullet and bought an original Samsung one for $28, which has a shorter rigid arm. It's rock solid, and I can enter text on the phone as hard as like without any wobble. Even the suction cup is stronger (although the cheap one never fell off the windscreen).

Edit: The one I use is this http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone…

  • gripgo work good i have had mine for 3 years everytime it loses stick just rinse with soapy water to make like new again.

Hubby and I both had a genuine GripGo in our cars, and we live in Brisbane. The sticky surface melted off, and left sticky residue on both of our phones, The sticky pad even melted to the point where it dripped all over the dash of our cars! still cant clean the sticky shit off the dash of the car.. its gross! wouldnt reccommend a genuine one, atleast if you live somewhere hot!

    • Have you tried eucalyptus oil? I usually use that to get rid of sticky residue :)

  • piece of crap, avoid

  • I have a genuine GripGo, it was good for a month or two, now it's useless. I've washed it a number of times but it gets worse and worse after each wash. Now it lasts a day or 2 before my phone falls off.

    • Woolies sell Grip Go for $25. Bought 2 Grip Go in Carrera Market when holiday in Gold Coast for $15 each. Saw In Sydney Flemington Market on Friday $5.

The cheapest phone holder in local Auto one is $15. The sucker to windscreen doesn't last 2 weeks and stop sucking.
