Looking for Cheap Car Rental from Hobart Airport

Hey guys,

needing to hire a car from Hobart Airport between the 18-24th of October.

Been shopping around and rates seem to hover around ~$230 - Which is fine. The issue however is the potential $3000 excess in the event something goes wrong. To bring the excess down im looking at anything between an additional $100-$150, which is throwing my budget way off…

Any deal you guys can think of that i can take advantage of? Or anyone else that ive missed?

Not fussed if its an older car.

Best ive been able to come up with was AAA Car rentals which quoted me $210 with $0 excess however id be looking at an additional $120 in taxi costs to and from the airport as they are based in the city and dont offer an airport pickup.

    Have a look at domestic travel insurance - I've used Virgin Australia (don't have to be travelling with them, underwritten by Allianz) and Allianz direct in the past who offer $3000 rental excess reduction. For 4 days last time I travelled it cost me $30, so couldn't imagine it being too expensive. Just make sure you check the PDS as a lot of domestic policies do not offer this feature.

    Some credit cards have free excess reduction.
