Men's Lace-Up Leather Walking Boots, in Brisbane

I am trying to find some men's lace-up leather walking boots in Brisbane, for less than $150.

I say "walking" boots because I don't want steel-capped boots, which all "work" boots are.

To pre-answer the question that I usually get asked, I don't buy shoes because my feet are unusually wide (EEE width). In my experience, boots are always wider than shoes.

Uppers MUST be fully leather. Where I work, we occasionally work with molten metal, and I have found that even tiny splashes go straight through synthetic uppers. Synthetic soles are okay, soles seem to be thick enough that they survive splashes.

As I haven't found any local suppliers, I am also considering trying Chinese online stores, but I can't find any. I can find shoes, but not boots. I have looked at BuyInCoins, DX, EachBuyer, Meritline and Tmart.

Perhaps there are Australian online suppliers too, that I haven't found?

  • Consider Chippewa Apache boots from Amazon. There's a 20% off coupon (WORKSHOE), and they still have free shipping over $150 for shoes (just add some Woodlore shoe trees if you need to push it to the $150 mark).

  • Try your local (or online) army surplus for GP boots, they're available in an astounding variety of size/width combos, are pretty comfy to wear for long periods of footslogging (especially if you throw in some good innersoles), and fit your other criteria for a boot.

  • Thanks Cyb3rGlitch and Stewballs, I'll try both options.

First I'll try disposals stores. I have looked at these before, but every boot I could find either had a synthetic "padded cuff", or a synthetic tongue - despite claiming "upper - 100% leather". That had discouraged me, but I'll give it another try.

Cyb3rGlitch, you identified almost exactly the type of shoe I am looking for. Assuming I can't find a suitable shoe in the disposal stores, I'll go the Amazon option. I didn't know that Amazon had ANY free shipping to Australia, although US$150 (-AU$171) is a bit over my AU$150 budget. With the BOOTUP14 discount code (WORKSHOE has expired), price comes to US$117.61, so I'll have to find something extra that costs about US$33, to bring the order over the US$150 mark.

If only I hadn't filled up on the recent DSE Eneloop specials, I'd know exactly what to buy for the top-up purchase!
