And people were saying it will never happen here and only in the US.

Well, there you go, it's here, time to rat f*** Aussie sellers some more.

A win for honest consumers and more heartache and pain for ever seller

wow, 180 days is a long time. I think 2 months seems more fair. I can imagine many crook buyers abusing this.

tikei you are correct. Crooks will just love this.
Poor sellers. ebay is almost toxic now. Would not want to sell my crap there lest some buyer gets bored with an item and siks PayPal on me. I assume I would lose as the customer is always right with PayPal.

Ebay are past being bastards, just taking the piss now.

    • I sell internationally and so far with countries like Germany, US, UK it seems alright. There are definitely scammers involved and judging by their feedback history they are either very unlucky with their postal service of not receiving their items so many times or they just know eBay's system that is totally broken. There are also genuine people that don't receive their item or what ever so I guess it "CAN" be fair, but it doesn't matter if it is 2 months of half a year because its going to turn out the same anyways. I find most buyers are honest and the few bad eggs in the bunch. Best thing to do now is calculate the your earnings and expect scammers to scam you just like Woolworths expects their items being stolen.

What I wonder is if big companies like Dick Smith & The Good Guys have this rule as well. I hope they do and that buyers scam them the most so they can go crying to the eBay HQ and bitch about them to have it removed and maybe for all sellers as well..

Wow one hundred and eighty days.
That seems way OTT. Good for buyers, awful for sellers.

going to turn ebay into a rental service.
people are going to return items left right and center….imagine selling games on ebay or fashion items.
do they ever do anything postive for sellers ?

  • It's finally live.*

    *effective 18 Nov 14

I think it just reflects their position that goods being sold using their services are actually real products now, not your $1 knock off product that lasts just over 2 weeks (assuming 30 days to ship it) that we have had so far. The seller that will definately be hurt are the ones selling rubbish and the scammers..

As such I think a win for the honest consumer.

You sell your 2 years old laptop => the buyer gets 6 months warranty on your account.

I used to sell a lot on eBay, even the ever increasing fees did not bother me that much. But November 18th it will be over.

Unbelievable, why would PayPal stoop so low. Imagine selling an item, within 6 months, buyer has remorse and changes mind, and can make up any story that he/she never noticed the scratch or damage initially and now has seen it, (of course they could have damaged it themselves) and they have a right to refund as 'Item Not As Described'
There is going to be so much abuse. Or you sell a book. Buyer photocopies then is able to return for refund with 1000 excuses. Or …a collectable. I happen to be a seller and also avid buyer on EBay, and even this I feel is going too far.

  • Sellers should not offer PayPal on eBay listings and avoid this refund policy if it worries them so much. But good luck selling on eBay anyway.
