      Gotta say, this is as generic as it gets tho. Plain white cable in plain plastic packaging. No branding, writings or certification marks (CE etc) whatsoever on the cable or the pack, except for Mini DP —> HDMI on the container.

      According to the official Dell site, it's a 20-pin mini DisplayPort. So it should be compatible.

    Cheers OP, I've been previously using mini DP to HDMI adapter and then a HDMI cable to hook up my laptop to my TV, this makes me need to carry around one less cable.

    I have a similar product, Mini Display to Female HDMI, no sound comes through the TV so I plug in external speakers to the macbook to make it bareable, will this definately play sound too? I know it says it will in the description but so did the original one i got!

      Hi Sira,

      It's most likely because of the macbook pro model you have. I have the same issue and I need to connect speakers via the headphone jack. I found this on a website, mine is a late 2008 MBP.

      "The following Apple laptop models do not support audio when connected to an HDMI adapter: MacBook (Late 2009), MacBook (13-inch Aluminum Late 2008), MacBook Pro (late 2008), (Mid 2009), and (Early 2009)"
