Nikon D5200 DSLR (Body Only) $494.15 (after $100 Cashback) from JB Hi-Fi (Pickup/ + $9.95 Delivery)

380

Just came across this offer today at JB-Hifi in what appears to be an awesome value for this decent DSLR (Australian stock). The prices even beats many grey import websites.

Plus, if you are considering international travel then TRS component will end up making this deal irresistable for those looking for a entry-level quality DSLR.

Nice deal for the body only!

But would it be better value to buy as a bundle(I understand they may give you cheaper lens, but as a beginner they should be good enough)
eg for about $250 more you get 2 lens (18-55mm & 55-200mm VR)
    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/nikon-d5200-dslr-camera-18-55-55…
but if you're only after the body, nice deal.

    • I disagree, far better off buying the body by itself and then picking up the very cheap 50mm 1.8 or the more expensive 35mm 1.8 separately.

18 isn't very wide, 55 isn't very long and you only need 200mm if you're shooting sports or wildlife (which are two pursuits that won't be ideal with the focusing system in this camera anyway, splash for the D7100).

the D5200 is an excellent entry camera though, don't get me wrong, and this is a fantastic price.

      • A prime lens does allow you to have really good aperture and is normally quite sharp. However, most new comers to DSLR won't really appreciate it (not initially). It is hard to convince someone to buy his/her first DSLR and a prime lens (which does not zoom at all).

However, twin lens kit is definitely a bad idea. I think getting just the 18-55 "might" be okay - because it is a cheap lens and by the time you decide whether you want to go with prime lens or a real / proper zoom lens, the money spend on the cheap 18-55 is not that much.

Not a bad price, still around $450 for grey - https://www.whirlwire.com/brand/nikon/d5200/price-trends

Great deal! I just bought a 5200 with a 18-55mm lens from an kogan auction for $510. That's a pretty tempting price considering it's Australian stock

  • Do you know when this deal finishes?
    Thanks

Today mate (unless extended by JB Hi-Fi).

  • Might be worth checking out the D5300 too, that's going pretty cheap as well!

  • Thanks OP, just bought one, this will be my first DSLR camera, where can I get cheap and easy to use lens for this camera?
    Thanks

    • Sigma 17-70mm from DWI would be nice, otherwise the standard 18-55mm kit lens would be okay for cheap option.

  • Nikon also has a cash back for their lenses https://promotions.mynikonlife.com.au/Cashback
