Anybody have any experience with this?
Bonus points if its cheap too :D
Looking for Some Quality Matcha Green Tea
Comments
That's where I get mine, too. It's far, far less expensive than matcha you'd get online or anywhere else (T2), though.
30-40g for <$10, iirc. Or did you go for a more premium option?
They recommended one, half matcha half some other type of green tea, it is really nice but $20ish for small packet.
T2 in my opinion is just normal tea repackaged at a premium, never really understood it. Though I'm not a fan of fruity teas and they seem to stock a lot, but hey they make a great pit stop when you want a free drink :P

Had been thinking to try this, but just seems too expensive.
Maybe try Tokyo Hometown Japanese Supermarket? Melbourne.
https://www.facebook.com/TokyoHometownJapaneseSupermarketI get mine from matchazone.com. You can also get it from theteacentre.
.au?
Yes both are .au. Matchazone.com.au ships from WA.
Obubu Tea Their matcha are not so expensive and quite good quality. I've used their premium kitchen grade for baking to good effect. They run their own tea farms so buying direct from a farmer, which I think is a good thing :)
Note: Shipping is a bit of a killer at $27.
Where are you located?
This place is in Melbourne, but they do online ordering too. I have yet to go, but it's on my list of places to visit.
All Green Tea http://travellingsamovar.com.au/collections/teas/green-tea
Uji Matcha (one of the best quality in Japan, but definitely not cheap) http://travellingsamovar.com.au/collections/teas/products/ma…
If you want cheap, but okay quality, I would just recommend looking at any large Asian supermarket which has a Japanese section.
I'm in Melbourne - I've been looking for green tea but can't seem to work out what's good or not. There is a lot of choice…
My main concerns (may not be valid at all):
* Lead and other heavy metals in general asian supermarket teas (perhaps particularly those from China)
* The T2 greens I've had seem to add things like flavour or other stimulants which make me not sleep - only tried a few though.
* The major supermarket brands just seem like a massive rip off e.g., Dilmah etc.Does anyone have a "go to" green tea (i.e., not too expensive but still quality, organic if it's not ridiculously pricey)?
Are my dot points are nonsense?my 'go to' green tea is the japanese brand 'uji no tsuyu', found in many asian groceries.
for green tea, i like any of their "sencha gold / sencha silver / sencha green"
for green tea with roasted rice, i like "genmaicha gold". i've tried the 'tokuyo genmaicha' and it lacks flavour.pics here (scroll to 'loose teas') http://www.ujinotsuyu.co.jp/english/shohin.html#Category
I can't drink roasted rice green tea…
The "director" at a place I once worked bought in a giant bag of the stuff… he told us all how SUPER EXPENSIVE it was and how generous he was…
It turned out to be one of those $2 bags you find at any Asian grocer, I have never met a bigger BS artist than him… Drinking roasted rice green tea brings back bad memories…
located in Sydney. Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll take a poke around and see whats good :)I've bought from www.matchaten.com and they are pretty good! They say they source their matcha from Uji which is meant to be the best matcha making region in Japan the quality and price are great! And it arrived pretty quick after ordering.
Any other Uji sourced matcha in Australia that anyone knows of?
I got some nice stuff at Tokyo Mart in North Bridge (Sydney)… not cheap though…
