Please help to identify these trees ?

We have these three types of trees in backyard next to our fence.

On the side fence we have these two trees planted after other (alternate way).

The back fence is having this one :

What are these three trees called?

We are thinking to cut all those back fence trees (3) and plant the same like we have on side fence there. So wanted to know what these trees are called so that I can goto Bunnings and get the same trees (side fence ones).

PS : Its been few months now we haven't done hedging of these side fence trees so they are looking bit ugly than rectangular/square shaped :)

Thanks!

  • I am only guessing but the second one looks a bit like a Murraya to me.

  • Flowers are very helpful in plant ID.

    My guesses:
    1= English Box
    2= Possibly some orange trumpet thing? Does it have orange flowers?
    3= Itchy Bomb tree? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagunaria

    1 = looks like a small garden tree
    2 = medium fulffy tree
    3 = medium to large size tree

    not 100% on this

    • I'm with you on that one…well except for no2. Personally, I think it looks more like a medium fluffy tree, of the fluffiness genius rather than a fulffy tree of the fulishly genius as you mentionned above :p

    Think seen all 3 in my garden. All are common.
    1. agreed. English box
    2. Lilly pilla?
    3. Gardenia or camillia - few colours for the flower. check white or pink or others.

    Just take the leaf samples to Bunnings (put inside a sealed bag), you will get the answer easily.

  • Thanks guys.

    Any idea, how easy it is to find these (1) and (2) in Bunnings or any other shop?
    And what would be best way to plant them inplace of (3)

  • English box and lilly pilly are very easy to find in any gardening shop. English box grows slowly but makes a very good hedge and is very low maintenance.

    For future reference, the dudes in

    are very helpful if you need plants to be identified.
