Wanting to Revolutionise Catalogues - Could I Have 2 Mins of Your Time?

Hi Everyone,

First time i'm posting on ozbargain after months of perusing through posts, getting the latest deals and saving a hell of a lot of money!

I'm looking at building a new product that hopefully a lot of ozbargainers can use however i need to validate that what i'm trying to solve is big enough and extensive enough!

If you have 2 minutes, could you fill out this quick survey?

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KL3CHFV

I'm not selling anything at all, just want to know if i'm on the right track and who better to ask than the people who leverage catalogues and specials as much as me!

Cheers,

Sam

Hey I'm all for young Aussie startups. Great fun. Good luck mate.

How is it different from some existing products, i.e. Lasoo, Catalogue Central and SaleFinder?

Thanks for the feedback scotty, mobility and portability are key here and we're noticing that these platforms target multiple functions that affect their overall stability and usability. We've designed a system that is meant to be very simple and easy for the average Australian to jump on to, find out who they want to follow and receive notifications based on their location. Anonymity is also a pretty big factor for us and requires the consumer to just download the app, no sign in or release of personal info. Is there anything else there that you find frustrating about current platforms or they do the trick?

    • That would be good to know. Hopefully with OzB members doing some beta testing we can improve upon the current options.

Maybe they'll code an app or two. Not sure of other ones but Android and for one app to fit any screen would be nice, a challenge but doable. Easier perhaps with Apple.

      • Yeah very good point, i'll definitely be releasing it on here, without a doubt! Apple are a bit more of a pain in my experience but we'll target both operating systems for launching, I can see the android market losing out a fair bit in this industry. Thanks again!

        • Cool. Yeah have heard some horror stories of Apple blocking or delaying approval of apps. They're a bit dodgy there. Some businesses losts so much money and some might have even closed up because of it. Think there were cases where it competed against Apple. Big one was actually a Google product like Maps being stuffed up when they released their own version. Don't they charge a fee each time or is it an annual thing, or both? I know Android and Windows do an annual charge and then free per upload.

Good luck though. Is there a name for the app so we can look out for it?

        • @adamren: Absolutely! I've released other apps in the past and it got rejected 3 times before they finally accepted it! Absolute buggers but I guess it's their platform and they have to maintain a certain standard. We were thinking of calling this app Catlog, what do you think?

Filled in the survey. Tracking specific companies/products for when they have specials and clipping parts of the ad that interests me is a good feature. Also easy access to the catalogues from smart phone/tablet is a good idea.
