          I started the special when I first added the download option on line. It's running till the end of October - if you look I also have both albums listed as $10 separately. (that's $20 for the two…obviously) I haven't advertised it on here before now - terribly sorry that I didn't set up an account here the minute I started running a special through my site…

          No, it is my special price. My normal price, if someone was to purchase them both is $20.
          I think it's very unfair to jump on a first time poster who is posting a deal that is currently running. I've been upfront in saying I'm associated with the business. Trolling me because you can't see that $10 + $10 is normally $20, therefore making this deal half price, is not really fair.

          You've jumped on me for making an error in the start date I posted because I'm new and didn't know I could add a date earlier than when I post the add. Then when I explain that it is a special, you jump on my again. What would you call it? Being helpful to someone who is new would be more helpful that labeling me as spam because I didn't know I could change a date.

        As Google has recorded and JV has linked to, you have been selling the same item for the same price at least since 16th of September. In my view that makes it the regular price, not a special. I think the ACCC would concur.

          As with everything concerning consumer law lots is up to individual cases and if in doubt you'd have to ask a judge to decide for you.

          But in my view an offer that claims to be a special but has been around for a month at that same price (and will be around for another month) is an attempt to mislead consumers.

          @molantz: The safest way to have a real sale is to limit the duration and/or quantity and to state those details up front. A single extension can probably be justified, but extending a 'special' over and over would create an issue.

          In this particular case the Rep states: "I started the special when I first added the download option on line." - that admits that it never has cost any more than now. It remains to be seen if it ever will.

          That would depend on which perspective you take.

          OzBagain is not intended to provide free advertising for businesses. From the view of someone trying to sell something, it certainly is a tough place to be on. Only great deals make it to the front page. Most "deals" get ignored, and some that fail basic criteria (like not a bargain) get slammed.

          That is exactly what makes OzBargain such a fantastic place for people who want to buy something at a great price. The dud deals are weeded out and don't take up everyone's time.

          So my advice to you: stay here for a while as a 'consumer'. The bargains you find here will save you time and/or money. Then, once you have an idea what makes a great bargain that is worthy of appearing on the front page, you can decide whether your business is willing to sacrifice enough margin for a promotion that matches other great deals.

          If you are not willing to sacrifice margin in exchange for the exposure you will get from landing a front page deal, your deal will fail. You might as well not bother posting it.

    but admits that from the time rep added this to their site its always been $10 and this was never actually $20 (possibility it may go to $20 later on but in hte past this was never $20)
