  Just a note from your last forum posting that got removed by the moderators (as deals should be posted as Deals rather than in the forum).

  Macy's charge $9.95 US shipping + 9% California sales tax and after added 11 % ziptango service fee

  And then plus the shipping cost from US to AU I presume, which is not a deal.

  • Why not a state that does not have sales tax? Most ship forwarding companies are in Oregon for a reason.
  • Macy's also ship directly to Australia, and it's much cheaper than your fees.

  Good idea to have some research before posting on OzBargain.

  There are few reasons why ziptango is better than most ship forwarding companies

  1. there is a risk they may lost your package or claim they never receive it
     for example, you can use their address, buy them yourself and ship to their address. If they claim that they never receive your package or lost some of your items, you are basically out of the goods with no way to recover it. How can you chase it? you ask the retailers, the retailers tell you they ship with tracking number, your forwarding companies claim never receive it, or say they only receive 3 items, when you ordered 7 items. You can't claim chargeback to your credit card because the retailers have proof of shipment. How can you get money back?

  With ziptango, it's just like any other e commerce, each of your ordered items are managed with our software, so there will be no loss package or goods because there is proof of purchase for each of them.

  2. macys does ship to AU, but have you check their shipping cost + their exchange rate?
     there are some stores that can ship internationally, but have you check on their markup? You can shop direct and have it ship to you direct, but you have to calculate your total cost with their inflated exchange rate + shipping cost.

  example, this jeans costs US$58.99

  if you buy direct from macys, they charge AUD81.9

  on my last check at xe.com today, AUD81.9 = USD72.49. so from $58.99 to $72.49, the macys markup is 22.89%. Even with ziptango 11% service and 9% sales tax, it's still below the macys markup, yes, only 2.89% which may not sound much, but still lower.

  some other online stores charge up to 50% exchange rate markup when i check several stores.

  If you shop direct, you can not shop from multiple stores. If you use package forwarding companies, how can you be sure that they will not lose your items (or missing goods)? because you are shipping to them without them knowing, they just receive goods, if they do not receive it, you are out of luck.

  Some stores only accept US based credit cards. Then you can not shop. You have the US forwarding companies address, but you can not buy. That's another pain most overseas buyers are experiencing when shopping in US. Some forwarding companies do offer what they call 'concierge service', but you have to go through several hoops such as send them money first, wait for their confirmation, then shop. By the time all of that is done, the sale may be over, or your items are out of stock.

  3. why in California? because most startups are located in california. we are an early stage service company that caters to overseas buyers.

  We are here to solve three main problems in this space, customer service, simpleness of buying, and excessive markup from retailers.
