Deceptive title. Shouldn't describe it as an $80 hard drive - with the purchase of a media player. You're buying the media player, not the hard drive.

Also there's no indication that this is a bargain without providing any examples. "Storewide" isn't enough information - all relevant models could be $50 more expensive than the competition for all we know.

    • Agreed.

But that's exactly what it is. $80 hard drive with the purchase of a media player.

We cant be expected to compare this sale with every other website in the country. We are incredibly competitively priced (most often the cheapest on the market) on all of our products.
Normal price for a 1TB Hard Drive installed into the players is $135.

The fact of the matter is, this is a great deal. You can check it out yourself. Below are our prices without HDDs on all of the above models.

      • Dvico 3330 PVR w Dual Tuner ($389)
      • Dvico 6500 PVR w Dual Tuner ($549)
      • Popcorn Hour A110 Network Media Tank ($329)
      • Popcorn Hour C200 Blu-Ray Drive Compatible NMT ($479)
      • eGreat M33H PVR ($379)
      • eGreat M31B Network Media Tank ($289)
      • HDX-1000 NMT ($329)
      • Conceptronic Media Titan PVR ($699)
      • Conceptronic Media Titan Wireless PVR ($799)
      • Noontec Movie Home V8 ($229)
      • Noontec GV-3341 Multimedia Player ($139)

It might be a great deal, it might not. The fact is that the title of this entry was worded to attract people looking for hard drives rather than media players. Whether that was intentional or not doesn't matter, you need to be careful when writing entries (especially if you're a sales rep), and so this got a -ve from me.

  • what they said

I disagree with the above comments, I think this is a good deal, considering these guys are cheaper then there competition on most (not all) media players and the fact that most media player stores sell 1TB drives for around $130. I rate it!

and the price for the drive alone is…? the EAVS drives 8mb cache & 5400rpm (which don't even appear on the WD website) are even worse then EACS ones, which are worse then EADS, which are worse then EVVS which is worse then EVDS

I'm not going to give this a negative, but I still believe OZBargain shouldn't encourage dodgy wording in advertising/topic. After all, we're all just after a good bargain, so let's just tell it as it is to the best of our ability.

  • nice deal… but that title is really bad form

how will you think if i posted "FREE WINDOWS 7 worth $$$$"in bold and "when you purchase a XXX-brand system" in smaller print?

  • I struggle to find any bolding of any part of the title, let alone any other part being in small text. This is an honest title. Had we omitted from the title the "with any media player purchase" part, then it is misleading.

The fact remains that the offer is for a $79.99 1TB hard drive when bundled with any compatible media player.

With regards to the comment from Icy, If you dont think the drive stands up, then we do have other drives available. We specialise in providing digital media technology products, and we have never had any issues whatsoever with the drives we use.

This listing is not a review of the hard drive, it simply alerts people to the fact that there is a good deal available if you are in the market for a media player with a 1TB drive installed.
