REPCO - 4 Door Central Locking Kit - $24.99 (Save $15)

140

STARTS THURSDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER

"Upgrade your car to central locking or replace faulty factory system. Kit includes power loom & installation accessories" (NOTE: This is not a remote controlled kit)

Bit of an odd one for OzBargain I guess, and most probably have cars new enough to not need this but if you want a cheap central locking upgrade it's not a bad deal. I did some digging before posting this and couldn't find a kit that matches this price so whether it's a "bargain" or just a good price I'll leave for you to decide. Could be a good purchase young first car owners or anyone frequently driving passengers around all the time.

Alternatively remote central locking kits on eBay can be had from around $65 if that's more your style.

note that this isn't 'remote' central locking. still, not a bad deal

    • Whoops, I thought I stated that but didn't. Thanks will update ad.

  • Anyone actually installed something like that? I want a remote central locking kit for a ute (i.e. two doors only)… but is it something for a professional to install, or can we do it at home?

    • it's not that hard tbh. the hardest bit is getting the door panels off, but once that's done it's just basic wiring. If you have a large ute box in your tray, i've seen people set them upto the central locking system too. quite clever

just buy a generic kit at supercheap/repco/autobarn/

    • As Davo said. I haven't installed one myself but a mate did one of my cars years ago and his together, took him 2 or 3 hours to get both cars done from memory. I'm probably going to get a remote kit but thought this deal was worth posting here for people who don't care about remotes.

    • I installed one on my car once, and hooked it to my alarm system (to get that remote central locking)…

pretty easy to do really… And kindda fun..

  • I've used a kit like this previously to replace my faulty door locks. It's just a matter of mounting the actuators inside the doors and then hooking up the controller to an existing alarm system or remote. As long as you have a multimeter and some basic electrical knowledge it's pretty easy. 1-2 hours.

    • That's sort of what I need… the ute has faulty door locks (if you turn the key too much, the lock actually stops working, and you can't unlock it!)… so we've had to pull off the door trim to get at the barrel to get it working again. :(

So in my case, I want a full remote central locking kit (since the ute doesn't have remotes), which would then avoid us continually stuffing up the lock with the key.

  • I bought a kit for the same price from Autobahn some time ago, to replace a worn/blown actuator. IT was really easy to replace and I've got 3 spare in case it happens again, or someone wants central locking in there 2 door ute or coupe.

I've tried to setup one of these kits myself and the hardest part for me was getting the wiring through the doors and into the car and wired up.. Need someone that knows what they're doing. I gave up and got a professional to do it! Cost $100 with a remote and siren.

no probs, it's just that i was there anyway :)

  • I'm suprised the moderator "Hueydata" hasn't picked on your post yet about just posting a picture and not actual URL website of the deal?

A couple of my Automotive posts I just used a picture from a catalogue or website I was told by "Hueydata" to only use the URL of the deal and never just a picture unless you have no other choice…

    • Dunno… I do a few posts a week, usually on 1 day when all the junkmail arrives and usually I do scans since the scanner is right next to me. Never been told anything otherwise and to be honest I don't see how there is a problem with it as long as you provide all the relevents (starting/expiry dates etc). I don't think I've ever received a NEG vote so nobody else minds either.

      • I agree with you mate, I used to do most of my posts just by using the picture as usually it's only a certain engine oil that's on sale and I upload the picture of the oil and didn't have any problems for ages until recently…

I allways add the shop name and dates in the descriptions aswell but it seems it's not good enough anymore…

If you check out my last post on the Repco oil sale you will see what I mean…

And my last Super Cheap Auto post got the same treatment when it was just a 1 day sale on engine oil it still got edited after I added the picture all by the same mod.
