  I've been with them for a couple years now and whilst they have their ups and down they are quick to fix it and will actually be pretty honest with you. For example if something is broken and it was their fault they will admit it, sure you don't get compensation but the honesty and transparency that they exhibit is refreshing.

  If you pay by the month after the first year its US$10/month and lets be honest, for what you get its a pretty sweet deal. Just don't go crying if you don't get 99.9999% uptime. If you seriously have that sort of requirement you shouldn't be buying shared hosting. If you just want somewhere to host your photos and your website then they are excellent value. They also do private rego .com domains for US$10/year which is a bargain compared to say godaddy where the private rego costs as much as the domain.

  Also if you want something more custom existing Dreamhost users can generate custom promo codes up to a value of $97 which we can give you as discount off the yearly cost (once off) or free domain rego's and private IP's (for life) which are way better value.     You sure, it says on the advert "including a domain registration" and from memory they include one free domain registration with all signups. It's free so long as you keep paying for hosting from them.

    That is correct. Which is why I mentioned that it's a better deal to get an existing DH customer to generate a promo code with a recurring bonus rather than a once off :)

  Don't get your hopes up on using that unlimited space/transfer though. Any "excessive" use and they just come up with a BS reason to cancel your account.

  For the price, its just meant to be basic webhosting. Nothing more nothing less. Just don't get suckered in to thinking you can host large media files/whatever (legal) and they won't complain.

    Not really, their conditions are pretty open and i've routinely done 100gb+ months without too much hassle.

    From what I have seen, those who have had their accounts closed have had it done because of the usual reasons, warez, abuse, public upload site, reselling a non reseller account, causing impact to other users or using it for other dodgy purposes. And they give plenty of warning, i've trawled WHT and it's always the same, people trying to exploit it.

    Read their conditions they are pretty fair, they will provide unlimited but not if your site is simply there for the sole reason of blowing through bandwidth and storage or impacting on the performance of other users websites. E.g. setting up an account and then starting up a linux iso mirror is a sure fire way to get you in shit.

    When it comes down to it, be reasonable.
