Vacuum Cleaner under $250

Hi Guys,

I'm chasing a new bagless vacuum cleaner.

I've been researching/'umming & ahhing' for a while but haven't been able to reach a conclusion.

I live in a small apartment, mixture of carpet and tile flooring and have one cat that likes to keep most of his hair attached to his body.

My budget is $250 with limited flexibility when faced with a persuasive recommendation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Note: I've seen some somewhat similar threads, but they're either not quite on point, have died, or received no responses at all. Sorry if this is too close to a 'dupe' for comfort.

  • around two years ago I grabbed one of Vax Fusion models for about $250, it's not too bad and seems reasonably sturdy (of course probably not your Dyson quality but not bad at all)

    • Thanks Realaaa. I have been considering this Vax Model:

It's a slither above my budget but has received some positive feedback on other sites. Is yours similar at all?

Any idea what makes this one so much cheaper? http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Vax_Cyclonic_2000W_B…

      Cheers in advance.

      • the more expensive pet model has a turbo head like this http://i.ytimg.com/vi/PGa-zO-NZ7M/maxresdefault.jpg and the brush will remove more dirt/dust from carpets, although it requires a bit of maintenance to make sure things don't get tangled up in it. On the other hand, the cheaper model has a regular vacuum head, weighs less and has only 2 years warranty.

      • yep agree with andwae it's probably the turbo brush/head that adds to the cost, but it totally worth it if you have carpets or need to vacuum upholstery, those brushes really help with hair

  • +1

Hi, we have a vacuum cleaner by Sansai.

It's an old model but it's only cost you $85.5
Hope you find what you need.
    Cheers

    • Cheers, but I'm looking to spend slightly more to get something a little more punchy. Thanks though!

  • For some reason we always used to buy cheapo vacuums that last no longer than a year. Eventually bit the bullet and spent a bit extra on a Miele. Have never looked back.

  • I bought a blue Samsung bagless vacuum last year a 2000kw for $160, was $250 from The Good Guys. Best vacuum for the price, pet brush picks up all the hair and works on carpet and hard floors, so you don't need to change heads. Plenty of accessories included. Very easy to use, wireless on/of and power selection on the handle, so no bending over. Main thing is, that it's very powerful and doesn't clog up.

  • Would recommend the Miele S8310.

We got one during the GG/Ebay sale. So if you get one when eBay does something similar again, then it would be a bit more affordable.
