Is this a fake website? Too good to be true?

Looks dodgy to me but would be amazing if it were true! I was looking for some cheap kayanos and came across this website www.bowraldentists.com.au

I couldn't find any reviews online so maybe someone could help please? :) thanks

Doesn't quite smell right - probably the biggest selection of Asics, Adidas and Brooks (amongst other brands) at some of the best prices I've ever seen - and I've bought quite a few online over the years. Add to that LOTS of typos and grammatical errors, and some very interesting sounding policies on their shipping and returns page - things about customs delays from Sept to March (? I work in port shipping and I don't know what they're talking about).

No doubt someone on here will find more on their domain history or ABN etc, but if I were you I wouldn't jump in and order just yet…

But if I'm wrong, then good luck to them - and I might buy myself

    • Could you please recommend some online shops (international is fine) for shoes? So far I've looked at amazon, wiggle, and amart so far.

      Thanks.

I have used http://www.startfitness.co.uk/ in the past for the Kayano's and I found them to be great. Obviously recognise that they are using UK sizes and it's in Pounds!!!

In May, the site was for gasp Bowral dentists.

I expect it's fake fake fake.

    • +1

I did think it was an odd name!

  • Thankyou I appreciate you checking it out. I didnt see the custom delays thing I guess that would be a good way of them delaying the items to buy then time….that's a good point about the ABN ill see if I can find one :)

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware blocks this website for me when I try and enter it .. I guess this is not a good sign?

    • I never seen Malwarebytes block a site before. And there you go.

Too many things wrong with the site to be considered legit

lol you don't think dentists selling shoes is suspicious?

    • +29

Good for business and makes perfect sense to me. They really should be selling Blundstone/Doc offerings too, but any footwear is probably dentist/thug approved.

Especially on the mean-streets of Bowral, only a crazy sonofabitch wouldn't kick someone's teeth in without having shoes on. Reckless.

I hereby declare the linked website to be legit.

Looks good to me - it assures you that "all the product images are real pictures'. I checked, and yes, they are. Even the monochrome non-functioning facebook, twitter and pininterest ones. What else could one ask for….

Also, facebook and twitter etc. icons don't link anywhere. They're just pictures, and they're not exactly correct either.

Did you even need to ask????

I mean this is listed under customer service:

"We use technology that allows us to accelerate, make no refund with the right product available that you can use. Behavior of visitors to our site The simplest."

Dunno about everyone else but I feel reassured.

some of these fake sites have online chat. I was looking for some branded shoes and the prices were ridiclus. A chat with the 'theif' told me paypal stole his money and he doesnt deal with them. I told him ill wire him $20,000 for 2 pairs of shoes and he agreed …lol

  • If you have to ask, you've answered your own question and in this case its a SCAM, FAKE

Good luck if too good to be true is your shopping criteria for bargain hunting!

  • Dudawills.com.au @ top of page?

Google that and top of list is http://www.alegris.com.au/ using the same assets.

Duda&Wills are Perth solicitors and guess what their website is?
    dudawills.com.au, which redirects to bowraldentists.com.au.

    Very fishy.

    Bowral dentists….. selling shoes
    sounds legit

    • +2

Same thought. Or maybe some innocent dentists in Bowral has a hobby in shoes.

      • +1

        or Nigerian scammer

hard to pick which one it could be

        • +4

I knew these Bowral dentists were scammy. First they said I needed to have all four wisdom teeth removed, then they said I needed braces, and now they're trying to tell us we all need branded footwear. Hmm.

  • Doesn't accept Paypal wouldn't trust it if anything goes wrong

  • Is it possible that this is a site designed for comedic purposes? It seems a little too stupid to be an attempt at a scam.

    • i'm guessing some chinese scammers have just assumed some (legit) australian company's abn/acn and registered some .com.au sites.

When a website just had fields for your name and email and type a short message under the "contact us" link automatically feel that its a scam.

    • oops!

    • +3

Contact us in this form provided

      person fills out form

"You missed the following fields: credit card information"

  • No PayPal. Don't trust it. That's my input. I only personally trust websites with PayPal Verification. This way if something DOES go wrong, PayPal can secure me!

  • +1

No ABN, no PayPal, mixed website urls around the site, prices way too cheap.

    NO NO NO.

  • Generally i just look at contact us page and decide from there. If there are no legit addresses, or at least contact info on micro businesses, I don't deal with them. Even if the website is legit. I simply want to know where i can vent if something go wrong.

  • Since when does dentists sell shoes lol
Also, why is their main logo "dudawills.com"

Seems like OP is trolling lol

  • http://www.wiggle.com.au. Most shoes that cost over $80 AUD ship for free.

  • Even if they were legit, I'd consider their statement under "Customer Service" a piece of (funny) shit.

"We use technology that allows us to accelerate, make no refund with the right product available that you can use."

    How 'bout no.

This is how the site looked last year. So yeah. not to be trusted methinks.
    https://web.archive.org/web/20130502220658/http://www.bowral…

    • And from the looks of that, they didn't set up their site properly. Perhaps they forgot to change the password from the default.

Surprised no one picked up this:

    processing 25% VAT

Maybe you all should check out http://www.419eater.com - pretty hilarious scam baiting site. Used to read through them when I was at tech!

Here's an interesting parallel to OP's find. Action Motorcycles at Parramatta and Sydney went into receivership back in July but their website is still alive … as a shoe store http://www.actionmc.com.au/

Can't be bothered backtracing via the cyberpolice to see if both sites are the same source but the poor grammar is there and the cheap prices. I'm wondering how many of these defunct websites have been resurrected to the almighty shoe!
