The adelaide colour run was a few weeks ago. I always thought it was for charity but apparently it isnt… Also a real ozbargainer wouldnt pay and would either use a shirt from previous years or just rock up and run it with a white shirt (as some people did). The run was just at a park in the city so it was open to public.

This. Note that the colour run is a profit making machine, columbusing the Hindu festival of Holi. It is very expensive for what is a non-timed, 5K mixed event.
Thumbs up to the entrepreneurs who came up with it, it's good fun, for a price.

    • So was I, then I see all these Facebook pics of people thinking they are doing good or whatever.
      Makes me sick.

    • They don't exactly hide that they aren't for charity and don't promote that it is. People who think it is generally just assumed it is for charity.

      CHARITY
Is The Color Run a Charity Event?
No, we are a commercial fun run event, but we do work with local charites in each city we visit. We provide a vehicle for runners to raise funds, should they choose to do so, for our Official Charity. Additionally we give a donation to the local charity in return for providing volunteers to assist with the event.

Can I ‘Run for a Cause’ and support the charity partner?
You sure can! We have heaps of amazing Color Runners who have helped raise funds for some amazing causes!

They then have a page for those who want to raise money for charity: http://thecolorrun.gofundraise.com.au/

Problem is no one checks the website they just do it because it looks cool, everyone is doing it and they think it's for a good cause.

what is the point of this? does it raise money for some charity???

    • Whats the point of anything really? May as well just sit back, do nothing each and every day waiting for the eternal night.

    • Well, yes… when "Charity starts at Home"

    • No. I think they donate a small part of their profits to some charity/s but it's a business designed to make money.

People who are interested in this would be better off signing up for a charity-based event such as the MS Colour Run.

      • They don't donate anything, they only raise awareness.
