Canon Pixma MG5560 Inkjet for $45.00 or $50.95 (+Min $10 Cash Back from Canon) Delivered @ Officeworks

180

Just checked Officeworks while checking out previous Dick Smith's deal on the same printer. Found it to be this cheap. It's a great price provided we could still get cash back from canon on this one through the following link.

  • Can't find any details if how much the cash back is on this model

    -edit I see it's a raffle

  • Only downside is the ink replacements are expensive.

Cant you use the 'brand x' brands?

      • +3

Found the compatible inks available on eBay for under $20 delivered. That doesn't seem too bad to me at all really.

  • Just picked 1 up from QV.. Will come down to $33 min after cashbacks.. Good value and first inkjet in 15 years

    • So you got $15 cash back?

      • +2

I was actually referring to $10 min canon cashback and 5% ING cashback.

Just claimed and got $30. So only paid $13 after cashbacks.

        • Aha! Great! You sir, are a true Ozbargainer!

  • Postage shows as $25.95 to postcode 2483 (Country NSW)
    No deal.

    • Pickup in store? if bought from the GoodGuys… which i think had it for 129 - claim under their 30 day price guarantee

  • Hi! Can this printer print if there is only black ink available or if the other colored ones are empty?

    • My experience with Canon printers is no, but this model may be different.

  • Product page now says missing?

    Deal over perhaps…

Oh bloody hell, just bought this for $79 yesterday from DSE! Luckily got $50 back from their promo so it only ended up costing me $29, but still haha. I should just never buy anything anymore…

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/techxpert-advice/price-matching

Dick Smith will match a competitor"s advertised price within 7 days of purchase if it complies with the conditions set out in the Price Matching Advertised Prices Policy.

      • Oh I didn't realise DSE had that. Although couldn't they just say it's under their cost price?

It doesn't actually say how to claim it, I assume I could just take screenshots of Officeworks website and email it through to them?

Getting a printer like this for free would truly be awesome :-)

        • I would still give it a shot, I called as I am in the same boat. They are selling it below cost.

        • @aacheney: Cheers.. just went back onto the site now and it's currently listed as unavailable online :( But there's a store a bit further away from me (only like 10 mins) that still has it in stock, might take some screenshots and send an email away to DSE.

        • @Porthos: it is available online

        • @aacheney: Ah looks like it's back in stock online. Sent my email to DSE this morning, still waiting on a reply from them though.. not actually even hopeful of getting one back :P

        • Well I'm still waiting on a reply back from DSE.. I think they either just won't reply, or will reply after Thursday (so after the 7 days) and say 'sorry, too late you didn't do it within 7 days' or some other bullshit.

        • @Porthos: lol

        • @Porthos:

I went into DSE today to ask about a price match. There was a new girl on and she said it was her first day.

She asked the person in charge and then looked it up on the system and it wouldn't let her price match it as it was below their cost price.

She sounded sincere and I don't see any reason why she would lie, guess that just means it's a really good deal right?

        • @dave1234: Sorry for the late reply, just saw this then.

Makes sense then, DSE just ignored both the emails I sent them though with both the Officeworks price and TGG price as well. Pretty piss poor effort from them really.

I don't see how company's can get away with these BS price match 'guarantees' when most of the time they won't even honour them anyway.

  • I haven't bought an inkjet printer in at least a decade. Do the cartridges dry out if you don't print for a while?

    • all inkjet print heads need to be used regularly or they suffer clogged nozzles.
Hard to say how regular it needs to be used, but I reckon at least one run every 3-4 weeks.
Also remember the ink itself has a shelf life of about 1.5 - 2 years. Beyond the shelf life, they have a tendency to clog nozzles.

  • I havent bought a printer for ages…

Does it include all the colour inks/cartridges or it only includes just the black ink?
    - saw in specs it says colour: black (i assume it it pertains to the physical color of the printer)

    • They include a full set (5) of cartridges.
However, they are labelled as "set-up" cartridges, which I think mean they are only half-filled with ink. Pretty sneaky I reckon.
Plenty of aftermarket ink options anyway.

    • It comes with 5 cartridges, and as far as I know, all of them need to have ink in them to even be able to just print black.

The compatible ones can be bought cheap as on eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-x-Compatible-cartridges-PGi-650…). $18 is pretty decent, not sure about the quality though.

      • When you replace the cartridge, you need to replace all 5 at the same time?

        — found th eanswer. Can replace 1 cartridge as per brochure.

      • I asusme the ebay link above is onlt for the refillable cartridge?

what is recommended to save on ink?

        1. Buy Refillable cartridge. Similar to the lnk above
        2. Buy refillabel ink

Or buy cartridge + ink on ebay - Cost $99.00
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MIR-AUS-Refillable-ink-cartridges…

        Any suggestions?

  • It seems their website is down

  • Got one. Now time to go into the raffle! :D

    • Oh.. let us know how you go.. I think I was more excited about watching the numbers spin then actually getting the printer.

      • +1

I got $10, after getting told by dicksmith they could not price match I went to harvey norman and they did.

        • Thats what I love to hear.

  • Thanks mate. Was looking at buying a wireless printer. Got $15 back.

    • Glad to know mate.

  • TGG just lower the price on their website to $45.00

  • I bought one for $79 a couple of weeks ago and managed $15 cashback. After seeing the $45 price tag I decided to buy another as I can use the ink and keep the printer as a spare. I managed $150 cash back for my second entry!

    • Grats.. Perhaps a 3rd attempt at the $500 jackpot :)

    • Dude well done! I only managed to get $15 but nice machine!

  • thanks. 2 is enough for me. Now it's a waiting game to see if they deliver on the cheques.

  • Got $150 cashback on first attempt :D Going to buy a second for the ink. With the $150, I should by the MX726 though :P

    • Awe now I'm tempted for a second machine! Works well as a scanner i suppose when the ink runs out haha

    • +1

I bought a second MG5560 for the Ink, and got back $50, ha ha :D
So I'm net up $110 after paying for the 2 printers :D

      • Buy 10, try for cash back, sell them on ebay?

        • Too much effort, but maybe, ha ha.

  • Received $15 cash back in my bank account today, only took 8 days which is not too bad. Printers working okay, nice features compared to my old inkjet, little bit slow.
