Maybe because it starts tomorrow - try this…
http://catalogue.bcf.com.au/catalogue/bcf-catalogue-make-som…Good little budget reel the Sienna - this is probably what you would pay just for the reel. Don't know much on the rod though
I've had a Sonic Pro 3-5kg 2pc rod for a couple years now and I'm happy with it. It balances really nicely with my Sedona 2500FD reel and is perfect for estuary fishing and flicking soft plastics. I mainly use it for bream but it held up perfectly fine reeling in a 60cm mulloway a while back.
I would be weary of getting Sonic Pro rods that are rated <3kg because the tips are ridiculously thin and being a graphite rod it'll break off really easy if you don't take care or use a tip cover when transporting.
What line are you running on it, 6lb braid? It's still a decent deal even if you break the rod, though from a quick browse of the catalogue it looks like the only decent deal.
Yep I'm using 6lb braid, but I've backed almost half the spool with cheap mono to not waste braid, and even on a smaller 2500FD that's way more line than you'll ever need for estuary fishing. I also get my braid from Amazon, works out way cheaper than buying locally although not sure how competitive it is at the moment with the weaker aussie dollar.
When I got my Sonic Pro + Sedona combo from BCF they let you pick any of the rods in the Sonic Pro lineup you want, so I'd highly recommend checking them out in store. You'll see there's a quite a bit of difference from tip diameter on the lighter weight rated rods <3kg compared to the higher rated ones. I know the amount of times I've accidentally clipped the tip of my rod on stuff when walking to and fro fishing spots I'm about 90% certain it would have snapped if I got the weaker one. In the end if you're after the extra sensitivity that the lighter rod offers then go for it.
Where does it fit on the bike?
relatively new to fishing. how does this compare to the Penn defiance combo?
http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Penn-Defiance-Sp…mainly fish around the harbour land based and want something more than my current 6kg kmart rod.
any help will be appreciated =]
It says offer not found for me?
