rubbish!
maxwell improves on kepler performance while also lowering power consumption
770/780 stock needs to be cleared ASAP as the 970 flogs them
Says nvidia?
Checks specs, the cuda core/watt is better on maxwell architecture but the Kepler has a higher wattage by double and it has a few hundred more cuda cores.
@jayng197: Why does that even matter, at the end of the day, its the FPS that matters. Lets see some numbers on performance/$.
EDIT:

Here's some aggregate performance data. Who cares how many CUDA cores it has?
you are comparing two different architectures and the cores aren't directly comparable.
Maxwell is a tweaked design that delivers higher performance at lower power levels
go read some reviews
@HeXa: exactly what I said
@jayng197: There's no point comparing things by paper/specs, look up reviews and prices. The 970 is cheaper, uses less power and is faster, not sure why anyone would want to buy a 780, especially the one for $650
@jayng197:
Yes…-HeXa has said that due to different architecture the cores aren't directly comparable.
-You are directly comparing the number of cores of the different architectures.
I don't think you realise that HeXa isn't actually agreeing with you.
GTX 780 deals are not worth it at all. GTX 970 performs better for around the same price, while being much more power efficient.
The other deals are great however.
GTX970 should be a lot less than this… GTX 980 is about this price.
(referring to the title offer of course and not the sub offers)
The GTX970 is also designed to handle DX12 . The 780 would have to be a lot cheaper to be an attractive buy .
And it's the water cooled version
That's new, last I checked the GTX 970/980 was DX11.2 only
There is a massive performance difference. They 770/780 have much more cuda cores and the VRAM is faster
And does more CUDA cores alone mean higher performance? Lets see some performances stats.
So many computer deals atm!
I've been considering updating my GTX590's but just can't justify it - was hard enough upgrading my GTX295's.
Lower electricity usage and cooler operation should get any pc enthusiast excited enough to change ;-)
hope MSY has these kind of deals, PCCG is good for VIC.
i want a 970! haven't got one because the local price seems pretty harsh :\
Consider importing from Amazon US:
Yeah… getting it from overseas stores seems to be the best option (there's free shipping as well). I'd like to support the Australian sellers but the price difference is huge.
I thought the '+much more" in the title was funny because it is usually correct with PCCG when you factor in shipping, plus insurance, plus the credit card fee. I will always order from PCCG unless I can get it locally for cheaper.
Firstly: there's so little performance difference between the GTX970 & GTX980 that purchasing the high end model is a waste.
http://www.pcgamer.com/review/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-970-g1-ga…
Secondly: the GTX 9 series uses an advanced delta colour compression, this means it has about 20% more memory bandwidth than the GTX 7 series (MSAA vs. MFAA I think it's called). Basically it's taking pixel colour samples of the new screen image and only changing the colours which require it as opposed to refreshing the entire screen.
Thirdly: The GTX980 & GTX780Ti, or the GTX970 & GTX780, are comparable in performance only. In every other respect the 9 series is slightly more advanced so when your only talking about a few dollars difference the 9 series would make a better choice.
That said, there is an absolute crap load of info and phenomenal amount of support on the 7 series. This tried and tested unit has a wide range of reviews and excellent information for anyone wishing to build a computer or over-clock their parts - e.g. Best power supply & components for stability. In addition, majority of the improved features on the 9 series remain "untested".
When the GTX 295's were fresh on the market I purchased a pair at over $2K and regreted my decision. I had no end of confliction problems which ended up persisting for the life of the machine.
Having forgotten my earlier promise never to use the newest tech again, I replaced them with 2 Gigabyte GTX 590's when they first appeared at just under $2K …… again with the damn confliction problems.Would I recommend a 9 series? No, unless that person has oodles of cash, doesn't mind constant confliction issues, or is buying the absolute low end version (GTX970).
Those video card prices aren't that good compared to the 970/980s
