Why don't we get light interior colour options with non-Euro/luxury cars?

Pretty much all Japanese / Korean Mid-size cars sold elsewhere in the world have light interior colour options (especially beige) but why don’t we get them here?

I like beige interiors because to me they look nicer and cleaner. Some may argue they are harder to keep clean, but in my experience its quite the opposite. I've been able to maintain beige interiors a lot better than dark ones because dust and light scratches don’t stand out as much.

I understand that we don't get the same options and features as rest of the world (despite paying more), but an interior colour option shouldn't cost anything extra, nor interfere with any silly standards or regulations.

  • I like this thread because there is a ranging war within my office between beige vs black car interior lovers.

My thought on your actual question is that it's simply a case of volume of sales and parts stocking in au. Our volumes are so low inevitably we miss out on options and colours simply because our sales volumes don't support huge varieties of each model to be imported and held in stock by the dealers and importers.

  • Try the Australian-made Ford Falcon. The G6 and G6E have the option of dark or light beige leather. Looks great, and no need to import.

But get in quick - stocks run out in 2016….

  • Honda civic 9th gen has beige interior.

  • +2

Because if looks like camel vomit.
