  • Couldn't you get the same savings by bypassing the travel agent now that you know how much you are paying in kickbacks?

this hire car co. obviously can't sell luxury cars or maybe they are too expensive ?

Any excess commission is often passed onto the client.

Travel agents get 50% off for themselves. But 50% off what ? If their prices are too high in the 1st place.

Like a carpet warehouse saying 80% off. Maybe rug was 5 times or more, the price it should have it been in 1st place.

% off sales in travel can be very deceptive.

eg. % off airfare ? There is no standard airfare

      or

% off hotel ? There is no standard hotel rate. Hotels sometimes have rack rates which no one ever pays, but which they discount off.

same with hire cars, same with anything.

The title KICKBACKS is just wrong.

  • I don't have much inside knowledge but im pretty sure you are not be able to get any perks without an IATA card or letter of employment for proof that you actually are in the tourism industry. And you couldn't claim the commission either without a IATA number. I personally only started last month in the industry and i am currently in a resort in Indonesia (Nusa Dua Bali) which have given me 50% off the cheapest available room rate i could find online plus breakfast and dinner so the perks are good.

But like greenpossum has said, they have listed to you the perks available try contact them directly and by pass the middle man, you might be in luck.
