    Rep - would be great if you disclosed the need to open an account to get the 'free' e-book, and also in the title that it's 1st chapter only.

    Smells like spam

    Check Ozbargain daily, that's how.

    Just subscribed.. seems like a waste of time … also the iPhone app doesn't exist for Australia! .. I suggest that you don't bother!!

    I didn't have to join anything to get the first chapter. Whilst I was aware of most of these tips, I think they would be quite helpful to anyone that doesn't travel much.

      Copy Paste here maybe?

      • -1

        No, that would be a violation of TravelZoo's copyright.

          Nope. Another ignorant myth. See Fair Use.

          Not going to be used for commercial use and even then allowed up to 10% of a work, or in this case a chapter.

          Welcome, come again.

          So whoever bothered to get it just do us all a favour and rehash the good bits.

          Not like they can or would bother taking action.

        • @adamren:

          Australia has no Fair Use provision. We do have Fair Dealing - is that the term you're groping around for? Here are the requirements for a Fair Dealing exemption:

          One of:
          * review or criticism
          * research or study
          * news-reporting
          * judicial proceedings or professional legal advice
          * parody or satire

          There is also no 10% covenant in Australian copyright law. Copying and pasting material from a commercial publication would absolutely be a violation. Absolutely. It's you who is spreading ignorant myths here Adam, not me.

        • @blitz: > No, that would be a violation of TravelZoo's copyright.

          I pretty sure that was a joke.

          and, as if this doesn't already contain pretty much every hack, wrangle, system, method, shortcut, pricematch, discount, etc to obtain the cheapest fare.

          @blitz:

          That's what we did at uni.

          Globalisation is causing this homogenisation.

          In the end is TZ even going to notice, in the blue moon chance they see it they not going to care enough to sue. They're an online travel booking site, not a music or movie publisher, commou sense prevails, so let's just post the darn thing. Would surprise me if it was plagarised anyway. Writing articles ins't exactly TZ forte or core profit-making business

        • @adamren:

          That's what we did at uni.

          You learned ignorant myths at uni?

        • So if someone did post here (or elsewhere) it would be for the purpose of

          • research or study

          Would it not?

    There is a summary of the main points from the book in today's issue of The New Daily.

    http://thenewdaily.com.au/money/2014/09/25/save-fortune-flig…

    I'd say that most of us here know this stuff already, though some might not know about deleting cookies, so they don't offer you higher prices next time you check the site. Discovered that via a friend who worked in IT. Godaddy does the same thing, check out a domain once, and if you don't buy it first time, the price goes up second time you look, 'cos they know you are interested.

    • The funniest part about that is they may now not be the cheapest….and thus lose the sale.
