[iTunes] Pride & Prejudice 1995 BBC TV Series, Complete $7.99 (Standard Definition)

350

FULL, RAW and UNCUT! (No, seriously. It looks like 3 episodes but it's all 6. See below.)
TOTALLY LEGIT! (Yes, they can be viewed on YouTube, but this is a legitimate, downloadable version.)

The original had 6 episodes. In this version they're combined into 3 double episodes but you're not missing anything other than a couple of repeated title/credit sequences.

  • Unclear if it's HD or SD.

    • It says SD(Standard definition) on iTunes page.

      • Shame, would have gotten it for the missus if it was in HD.

  • When you say "it looks like 3 episodes, but it's all 6" what do you mean?!?

There's supposed to be 6 episodes, but for whatever reason they've combined them into 3 double episodes.

I already own it through itunes, after I bought it on a similar priced deal a few years ago.

I watch it on my ipad mini.

I can confirm the quality is not that great, so definitley SD!

  • Most memorable scene: Mr Collins' proposal

Isn't it Mr Darcy's wet shirt scene?

      • Not quite as cringe-worthy :)

      • Now that is a terrible quality video…

This brings back nightmares as a kid, brought up by English born parents, having to endure this when we only had one TV. I'll pass on this one.

P&P is one of those things (like shakespeare) that they inflict on kids when they are in no way mature or worldly enough to get the nuance. It's worth watching as an adult - if only because, if you've a brain, you really get why it's called "Pride and Prejudice".

^this is absolutely true. Costume dramas like this and Wuthering Heights have a "girly" reputation but are actually very cleverly written in the way they show how problems between people arise and get resolved. They're far superior to any modern rom-com I've seen.

Not many kids like political thrillers either. Too much talking! Then as an adult you discover the subtleties in "talky" films and shows like these, and got to really enjoy them. They're not for everyone, sure, but what you think of them as a kid may not be what you'd think if you saw them fresh now.

Is this the one with, or without zombies?

  • Whilst a great price at $8, for my Mum who is a fan of this, I bought her the blu ray from ABC shop for HD a while back. Not sure how much it is now but I think it was circa $30 back then.

    • +1

I got my blu-ray at £7.08 in the good old days of 2011 when Amazon UK had free shipping and the exchange rate was good. Ended up being $11. I miss those days.

  • No one needs to buy this, because every female in the English speaking world has already seen it, and no man wishes to endure it.
