40

There's a lot of extra chances to boost your Coles Gift Card in their "Giant Gift Card Giveaway" by presenting vouchers for certain cleaning products. From Coles' email just now (edited slightly :) :

It's official, the spring cleaning season is here! As a Giant Gift Card Giveaway customer, we've got lots of fantastic BOOST offers on a wide range of cleaning essentials, exclusively for you.

You could earn up to $15.00 extra on your Coles Gift Card by redeeming the vouchers on the promotional products in-store.

Get the PDF uploaded and print your Spring Clean Boost Vouchers valid throughout September. Present them at the checkout with your FlyBuys card at the time of purchase to boost the value of your Coles Gift Card even further. It's that easy!

There's terms and conditions on each of the vouchers in the PDF. They look the same, but check each one for details. Here's the first as an example:

Voucher Conditions: Offer only valid for customers who are registered for the Coles Giant Gift Card Giveaway. FlyBuys card must be presented at the check out with a valid Voucher at the time of purchasing the qualifying product. • I wonder if the original vouchers required???

    • They were supplied via email as a PDF (the same one uploaded), so you'll have to print them in any case.

  • So you buy these products and you get 'money voucher'. You will need to register online first and show your Flybuy card then get that money value as gift card?? not sure if I understand this scheme.

Why can't they just simplify this whole discount scheme as '$xx off' on the spot rather than 'First you register your detail online, you print out this coupon, present it when you buy it then you get voucher into as Gift card when you show your Flybuy'?

    'It’s that easy!' - well, I don't think so.

    • I fully agree. I guess there's a few reasons I can see that make it good for them to give you the money back like this:

      1. You have to spend the money you get back at a Coles store.
      2. Most people will probably do their full shopping when redeeming the vouchers = $$.
      3. They get to hold onto your $$ for months, which equals interest in their accounts.

Good if you're buying/needing those things anyway.

      • Plus you also don't get anything back if the total is less than $5 (and presumably multiples of that), so the spending you get to achieve $3 results in no payout from them.

If there was an award for most useless and complicated reward scheme this year, this one would get my vote.

        • Complicated schemes = perceived value > real value. Same with rebates where they hope customers will stuff up the redemption process so the rebate doesn't have to be made.

Also they can easily offset the $1 "bonus" by increasing the price of these items too ;-)
