New TV Recommendation

Gday folks … im after some help/advice on selecting a new TV for the Lounge room in my new house
Currently using an older 46" panasonic plasma which is still great but just not big enough in the new house.

Veiwing distance is about 4 metres
Budget is about $3k

Not too fussed about 3D, but ive also never had a 3D tv so i wouldnt mind trying it out.
Never had a smart TV so dont really know about the benefits and I mostly watch downloaded 720p content via a WD media player which is connected via network to my PC which doubles as a NAS

And what are the thoughts on 4k tv's? Are there 4k Blu-Rays available now?
If so i wouldnt mind getting a 4k tv with a blu-ray player

    still great but just not big enough in the new house.

    Gotta love that 10 years ago 46" was an unthinkable size for a TV and now it's not big enough..

    Only solution is a Projector… never complain about screen size again!
    You just complain about wall area instead.

    Keep the TV for watching the news etc, Projector for Sports and Movies.

        I agree with rodericb's (+1) about size/viewing distance.

        If you don't intend to play PC games on it (speed limitations) you could do worse than the 65" 4K 3D TV from this deal which has now dropped in price to $2195. I have the 40" and I am loving it as a 4K PC monitor.

        I also have an Epson 3D projector and really love that for 3D blu-ray movies at 80-100"

    If you are watching from four meters you will need at least 65 inch. For sizing, for general telly viewing go factor of 2.5, for movies it is 2x. So movies at 4m would suggest a 2m screen.
