So, recently OzB listed a Free course, on setting up a [4-component] LAMP server.
Here's a place to get the S/W for to put a LAMP server up on your own Windows, Mac OS or (best:) Linux box. (If you already run Linux, you may well not need the course, maybe not need the S/W either, but I digress.)
These developers have been offering easy-to-install LAMP for yonks. Theirs is called xAMPP ('x' to hint that they also have versions for Window & Mac OS; & an extra 'P' because they [optionally] include Perl).
Today, however, I see they're also offering add-on applications, eg, WordPress, several CMS's, Wiki, several eCommerce, online classifieds, eLearning, cloud media-sharing, forums, etc.
(ApacheFriends' xAMMP also include eMail & FTP servers, as well as easy to activate security.)
To configure a xAMPP server, start by installing their xAMPP (ideally on a Linux platform); then add any of the applications you may need.
(The free course might give you info you can use to grok & check/change configuration to your heart's content.)
Enjoy!
PS There are a few more Linux systems that offer add-on's like the those cited above, some with even more to choose from; you'll find them (& lots more) here:
