I was looking at getting the 458 italia, what do you find wrong with it
Basically the main thing is it requires a stand to use because the bottom is not flat "lap use" is out of the question (it has a lip to lock onto a computer desk for example) the peddles are stiff so after using the break once or twice you find the peddles have slid so far in front of you that you can't reach them any longer. So unless you have a desk and wall or brick behind the peddles you need the stand and I can only find the stand on amazon for $130USD plus $100 USD shipping (not worth the use I'll get out of it IMO).
Also it comes down to the performance, the steering is stiff but no force feedback what so ever mean you don't "feel" the track out as well when driving especially compared to the amazing vibrations you get out of the XBONE controller and a bad turning circle leave you needing to use the breaks heavily to get through corners loosing a lot of speed (with the regular controller I can do this much better so I know it's not just the difficulties of Forza 5).
So it could just be I was expecting too much but given I need to sink another $250 on top of $200 to get some use out of it, it's not for me, still may be good for you though!
A cpl days ago i jumped on the 458 spider thru ebay only cos i got it for $68, but recently i found out it doesnt have force feedback (pretty much noob with steering wheels for games here), but read the italia's feedback is too strong for some ppl and have had to dial it back to about 20-30%,
@odrocs1987: $68 WOW that's cheap! You should of posted that I'm sure it would of been considered a bargain most places have it for $120 if your not a JB etc.
I don't quite follow what your saying though, it does not have force feedback but the feedback is too strong on the wheel? are you referencing the resistance when turning? If you can adjust this please advise me how? and if it's a setting will it affect when I use a regular controller or just the steering wheel? (could help me make the turns I was complaining about).
Otherwise I had read that the 458 on the xbox 360 did have force feedback but was costing too much to produce at it's pricepoint so they took it out of the XBONE version :(
was a one-off from ebay seller, hence why i jumped on it.

Cant you just use a CronusMAX? (allows ps3/360 controllers to work on xbox one)
Let me know if you wanna sell it.
Im on the hunt for a good wheel, since my Oculus rift was delivered this morning (March 28th order)

Sounds like it will soon
sold mine as this isnt compatible with ps4….hopefully logitech will release a ps4 wheel too…
You might regret that..
Logitech are currently working on compatibility and we are all hoping its going to be in time for Driveclub.
Do you know if the compatibility issue is with the PS4 console or the game software?
its with console
and i doubt logitech will ever get it working on the ps4 because its not a hardware issue
its about software licensing… the people who make the force feedback (Immersion) won a lawsuit that means that Logitech has to pay a licensing fee for the g27 to work on the ps4
and since they are moving out of the wheel market…
dont think so, the g27 does not have a chip required for ps4….
I hadn't seen Logitech's latest twitter update.
They did say they were working on it ages ago but I guess its impossible without some kind of security chip addon.
Another reason why I'm a PC gamer.. just have a PS4 for exclusives and Driveclub won't be one of them now.

In case anyone was wondering, JB's 20% off code you get while trialing 'JB Hi-Fi Now' excludes gaming accesories.
oh man, this brings back memories. was able to get 2 of these for $20 each from DSE a while back. best bargain ever.
Yeah….I think I bought 2 and stupidly sold the other for $50. Oh well, need to do some good deed once in awhile. Mine's still brand new and unopened. LOL.
If you want to sell that one, I could buy it :D
You got a G27 for $20?
This is a great wheel at a great price.
Friend picked one up Tuesday at that price, went to the Strand store to get one and got F'd around and told $250 was the lowest and that they wont accept a photo of the invoice (as proof of price) that happened 30mins prior as it could be fake or they dont know the circumstances around the sale. Not to mention they claimed to have no prior knowledge of any upcoming sale items or prices. This was from the manager the guy in games called over to OK the price.
Excellent customer service I must say.
Lovely girl at Galleries did it for me with no issue!
But awesome wheel, great price.
Thanks op, been looking out for a deal on one of these.
Available online as well it seems. $234.95 delivered.
As someone who has never used a steering wheel with pedals and shifter for games, how does this compare to driving a real car and shifting gears etc?
There is no clutch feel, the feedback is really good depending on the game I guess, the precision is amazing compared to mouse/controller/keyboard.
Could you learn to drive a real car with this? No.
Thanks for that, no clutch feel is a shame.
I'd love a steering wheel setup and a game that provides a realistic feeling clutch + shifter, and a realistic response. Short of building your own though, I don't think we can expect it any time soon from consumer products.
Asking game developers to program a clutch capable of feeling realistic would be asking a lot I imagine.
I would also imagine a clutch capable of this would be expensive to make.
I don't think it would be ridiculous, it is already an analog pedal, games like live for speed have a degrading clutch, so if you are rough you burn it out and can't drive anywhere, I imagine all they would need is like a force feedback kind of thing for the pedal.
I guess it depends on how real you want to make it..
I honestly think it would be expensive to replicate the "bite" feeling of the clutch in relation to how it was programmed for the game.
I'm pretty sure the steering wheel is just a combination of spring tightness and force feedback.
Was going to buy this until I read about the lack of PS4 support :(
I've been playing The Crew with my G27. One of the best games for this wheel, lots of great force feedback.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is also great once you configure it for 1:1 wheel turning etc.
You have to try Assetto Corsa, such an amazing game to use with the wheel.
I have and its great but I got pretty bored of it. The only reason I would want to play a pure track racing game is if there was a fancy multiplayer ranking system like iRacing.
I love getting this thing out. It is SOLID. Gets a beating while drifting in GT6
is the force-feedback compatible with PC ?
It works best on PC, so yes.
Will this still be around tomorrow afternoon?
Thanks OP, picked one up at Hoppers Crossing tonight. Now, if only my GF weren't coming to stay for the weekend. Hmm, might retract that, the wheel can wait till Monday ;-) lol
This is a wheely good price!
thanks OP great deal
picked one up yesterday @ Chadstone JB ,
my girlfriend spent the night driving (at the speed limit 60km/h) on the coast track in GRID2
thanks to OzBargain I am saving a lot of money (but my bank balance seems to be mysteriously decreasing)
Damn it, I bought the Logitech drive force GT 1 week ago
For anyone interested, these are still available at JB in Westfield Southland, VIC. Picked one up last night and there were two more sitting on the floor.
LOL might wanna add the store to the tittle (JB HIFI), good price though!
Got the Thrustmaster 458 Italia wheel for the XBONE and it is very disappointing for almost the same price. Shame the G27 can't be used with Xbox :( cause I think I'll be returning the wheel.
