Just ordered 16G Space Grey through virgin online store, opened a chatting windows with their online sale rep at the same time. They were happy to honour the 2GB data bonus even if I ported from TPG- optus network. Just print out the chat record at the end and go ahead with the order!
I called them twice and I am doing the online chat now. They still wouldn't honor the 2GB bonus data because I'll be porting from TPG…
I wonder what they would say if you said to them that you are going to port to Telstra or Voda prepaid then sign up, then ask them if they can save you some time and hassle.
I said pretty much everything during the 2 phone calls and 2 online chats, but it seems that I just need to 'come across' the right online chat representative. The 2nd time I tried online chat, it worked. "Kelly: Yes, TPG uses the Optus network, but as I have mentioned, if you will be able to complete the order online with the 2GB bonus, we will be honoring the promo for you." I've saved the online chat record just in case they won't honor it.
It says "$2.3GB Data"
I can't work out what that means :-/
300MB (comes with the plan) + 2GB (Bonus) = 2.3GB

How do I know I got the 2GB data bonus? I know I have to port my number from a different service provider, but when I checked out I didn't see an option for that? Nor any fields that I can type the phone number I am gonna port?
You can port your number as part of the activation process included with your starter kit

my vodafone contract ends mid Nov. Can I sign up for the virgin plan now (before the offer expires on 19 Oct), get the iphone6 and the starter kit, then port my number over after mid Nov?
Based on my understanding, you don't get the bonus 2Gb unless you port your number from your old service.
You can start with Virgin now, they will give you a temporary number, after you Vodafone contract ends,
port the number then.
Only Virgin mobile let you port the number later than you starting the new contract, that was last time
I signed up with them with iPhone 5 plan. You should double check with them.

I did that two years ago, signed up first, port number two months later, all done through its online portal. I would say it's pretty safe bet.
Apple store is offering 12 months interest free through GE Money.
if it's GE money, it would be at least $5/month for their services

My Voda deal maybe ending soon. Thinking of getting current the voda deal of free HTC m7 with $30 plan. But this virgin deal is tempting as I'm on iPhone 4s now and staying on apple might be easier for me in terms of continuity as I have a lot notes and data on my current phone. Decisions…..

Ended up picking up an iPhone plus 64gb in store this morning. I just Walked in last night, put my name down on a list and had one guaranteed for today. 1hr waiting in the queue and I was good to go. The Telstra deal was good, I got $200 for switching, $140 for my old 4S and 1gb extra data (for a total of 2.5), taking away all the cash back I got, it's costing me under $80 a month on the best network.
Most of the iPhones are sold out now, this offer is effectively expired :-(
My iphone 6 64gb with virgin is on the way…
