    very cheap but RT? hmm

    • I had trouble finding (m)any around, to gauge pricing.

      $550 on StaticIce
      $630 on eBay
Used on eBay: $150, $225 (starting bids) $250++ BuyItNow

      Something fishy here.

      Condition not mentioned in info:
"Mint condition. Merchandise with an open factory seal, The seal was broken either for testing/demonstration. Open Box products must inclued all original accessories such as: Home charger/USB Cable and user manual"

      • I bought a 32GB model in November last year for $225 during the black Friday sales.

I've seen it a few times at about $300 for 64GB. This is a good price. Battery life and office functionality is great.

The best part of this deal is not the Surface, but the reasonable international freight charge!

Own an RT. I would stay clear from it. It lags even worst than a Samsung phone. Sure it comes with free Office but you won't be able to work on any documents as it lags and freezes on big documents.

Not to mention you can only use IE as the internet browser.

    Even Chromebook is better :/

As a previous owner of a 32gb surface i can confirm itslaggy and your stuck with IE but an android tablet or full windows tablet.

As a Surface RT owner, if your main use of it would be to consume data, not create data, then the RT is pretty awesome. If you wanted to use it for big spreadsheets/documents/etc then yeah, as mentioned above it's not that great.

The Windows Store has a Plex app that is brilliant, IE is very good on it (despite what people like to think of IE, it is actually a very good browser these days), it has a great screen in 16:9 resolution which makes viewing media much better than an iPad, and it has pretty decent battery life. I use mine as a web browser and Plex client and much prefer it to my iPad now.

Agreed it is very dependant what you use it for. I actually bought a Windows RT tablet second hand (only been used minimally) for my girlfriend to take to uni to take notes and access her other documents that are synced to OneDrive (SkyDrive) from her home PC.

Works perfectly for her because it's light, portable, keyboard is decent enough (type keyboard, not the touch abomination) and she can open/edit all her office documents.

She likes to watch youtube while studying (background noise) and it took AAAAGES to find a decent Youtube App, but there's one that's been released now that's actually decent, so that covers pretty much everything.

Oh also, skype works pretty good on it too.

EDIT: The Office usability and decent keyboard cover(type only) makes it a really good package. That is the only reason, otherwise, android for sure.

      • What RT apps did you end using mostly?

    • I love mine RT so much that my ipad 4 is collecting dust these days…Slightly bigger screen and it is pretty light with descent camera for Skype….Office…ticks all my boxes…I find surface 2 to be a bit of brick and to heavy for my daily use.

      • It is a little heavy, but the advantage is it's built like a tank. If I had to use another tablet what I would miss most is running 2 apps side by side, it's extremely useful on this size.

  • It's not a terribly bad deal… if you like Windows 8 but you don't like using any features.

Rep - Any good deal on Moto X?

  • You can also do alot of hacking on the RT to allow other applications to work on it, also other mods to adjust the touch etc.

So the RT isnt all that bad, but if your really wanting a proper experience of windows go the Pro.. Had an RT for 2weeks and i did enjoy it and began to use it more and more but then i still had to go back to my PC when i wanted to do other tasks.. So for a 'Laptop replacement' you really would want Pro.

  • Hi Rep, is there any warranty by default ?
    thanks

  • Sure, it will carry Microsoft manufacture Warranty.
