Worx Electric Mower $99 at Stratco ($80 with Gift Card)

60

See page 9 of the catalogue.
I've been looking for a lawn mower for some time. I decided to take a punt on the worx mower. Yes, it's corded - but it is low maintenance (no filters, etc) and no unreliable batteries.

I tried it today and it worked very well.
Features include
- 2 year warranty
- light weight
- 2 speed
- easy adjust height (about 7 levels)
- mulching mower or use catcher

I paid $80 for a stratco gift card worth $100, so the mower cost me $80. All I can say is that it did a great job on my lawn - a great cut!

I read that someone heard a clanging sound every time they turned the mower. My mower is sufficiently sturdy (at least at day 1) that this doesn't happen.

Down side? The plastic looks a little flimsy and will break if you don't look after it. I also suspect it's not UV stabilised.

If the gift card option is still active, take advantage :)

  • Trust me mate, once you've tried an electric mower you'll never go back to a petrol one… I bought one from Bunnings for $89 not expecting much, and it cut the grass really well every time, and lasted 8 years despite me not even actually looking after it very well. When it finally died, I just bought another one pretty much the same.
I'd recommend them to anyone. Light, quiet, and no messing around with petrol/oil/mess/starting the thing etc. Even a bit safer too, due to the 'dead-man' type switch thingy, which means that if you let go of the handle, the blades stop turning. I bet as more and more peeps swap over to these, there will be less and less peeps showing up at the EU having chopped a finger off with their petrol mower (a surprisingly common occurrence).
I'd like to try a battery-powered one next… If I can find a cheap one that comes with 2 batteries and a charger, I'll buy it.

    • You will always be forgetting to charge, waiting for batteries to charge. Stay with a power lead one. We have had a Bunnings one for years as well, only problem is a wheel keeps unscrewing and falling off every few months.

      • I'm thinking if you had two batteries, you could be charging one while using the other… with "rapid-charge" battery technology flying along at the pace it is, surely we're not far from the point where one battery could fully charge in the time it took you to use up the other one, at which point you'd just swap them over; i.e., you could "mow forever" if you had two batteries, if you know what I mean. Not that anyone would want to mow forever of course. Except maybe "Jim".

  • Have the worx cordless; the plastic is crap, the handle is flimsy, basically the build quality is poor. All that said it was a good buy as it works beyond my expectations. My mower before that was a Honda HRU19 which is excellent build quality and still I prefer the Worx

I'll never go back to a petrol mower ever. And as stated above they are far safer

  • Do you know what the model# is. Trying to find out more from the worx site. Thanks

  • What a waste = WA . This is the > 10 times chasing stratco specials In WA and always come back with Nil zilth zero stock . WEstern Australia is always wasted - one of richest state with the least stocks in Australia .

  • Is this deal also only applicable for South Australia?
I looked at the Victoria catalogue and found nothing.
In the same boat, looking for a new mower, this looks like a good deal.
