From what I read the iphone 6 128gb is $499
It is actually USD 849 before sales tax (usually about 8%) for outright purchase

@TRENT86: The way that the US works is that the customer has to pay an upfront amount for the phone and then they pay their plan. So essentially it will be $499 + monthly plan. Good deal for them! But if they are just buying outright they have to pay the normal RRP.
