I'm coding for an iOS game but my intel atom isn't really cutting the cheese. Can you give me some idea what computer power I need for developing a game like Need for speed?

What are you coding with? Sounds like not an Apple. I thought you needed an Apple to play within the shiny walled gardens.
Hehe. Well now they have their SDK thingo (whatever they call theirs, just to be different) available on Windoze now, or since 2006 or so. Not sure. Don't use it. Leave programming etc to freelancers in Brazil and Chindia.

Indeed. Although given that it's the luxury model, you will need to replace it when it fills up.
Wow really? You're creating a high powered graphical gaming app (cool) but don't have money or know how to get as much CPU, RAM etc into a machine as you can afford.
Maybe start smaller.
