Help! I’m a Bargainholic… OZbargain... ahhh feel much better now.

So I think I’m addicted to Ozbargain. Find myself looking several times a day even when overseas on holidays. Ok so who on Ozbargain is going to own up to this addiction? Do you have a problem, have you sought help?

Addiction Meaning: The state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

I will start I have three pairs of Ray Bans in my car and have just bought another from the OPSM Ozbargain post at the insane price of $70 …I think I have a problem.

Maybe you are instead a shopaholic that justifies purchases that you don't need because they are bargains?

Just a guess. I have found myself subscribing to freebies that I don't need just because they were free.

Just buy only what you really need. Create an Excel sheet and instead of buying things you don't need, enter the amount of saved money in that Excel sheet. After a few months have a look at the amount you saved. Take that money, go out, have a few drinks and invite other people until you run out of money. Sorry I can't help you

I appreciate that you're only joking, OP, but on the off-chance that you are being serious even to a degree, you could try the plan that I've implemented for myself, recently… I'm not an excessive buyer or hoarder of stuff, but, yea verily, OzBargain can be quite the time-sponge.

Just follow the OzBargain RSS 'deals' feed - most of the time.

If nothing of real and specific interest pops-up there in a given day (which actually happens for me quite often), and you just read comment notifications (comments set to display in full-length) from your email - and if nothing there warrants a site-click, you can quite successfully avoid - for a while anyway - the aforementioned/dreaded OzBargain 'Time-Sponge Factor'.
(Like the X-Factor, but with less Dannii Minogue.)

    • Yeah thanks I was just joking, I don't spend a lot of time here but I do check regularly just in case a good deal comes up …could I stay away for a few days without checking OZbargain very difficult.
I'm not a big fan of Instaface (INSTAGRAM + FACEBOOK = INSTAFACE) much prefer to check what's happening here on Ozbargain. Thanks for the tips though.

      • More than reluctant to defend Facebook - and given ownership - Instagram, but latter does offer more than selfies and enormous Kardashian arses.

Check out this account (cute-overload and not-even-furry), this, this, and this.

        Just 4 of the 400+ accounts I'm following…
Build-up to that number and Instagram might just occasionally distract you from your OzBargain deal-buying habit… until some otherwise too-tempting deals get marked as 'EXPIRED'!

Yep I have it! At one stage I had 8 pairs of running shoes and 6 ski jackets, not to mention 4 mobile phones, 3 tablets and numerous other stuff. I bought a bargain watch strap last weekend, arrived in the post yesterday and I was stoked with it. Went to put it on my watch and whilst searching for the springbar tool I found another packet in a drawer that I had bought the last time the exact same watch strap was on sale…..and never fitted to my watch.

Be philosophical… '2ndeffort' watch-strap-buying, with both efforts successful!

  • Better to be addicted to saving some money then toxic substances.

I have the Live Action page saved as a tab on my browser and sometimes will check the Android app on smartphone.

  • which OPSM store did you get the ray ban sunglasses for $70

Online OPSM 50% off then use code FAFF30
      50% off price $99 less 30% with code FAFF30

      • How did the 50% off happen? Was it a separate discount code? The price is displayed as $199.95 :/ I'm guessing I can only use the 30% discount now

        • Never mind, I figured that there was a Father's Day sale that I completely missed. ;(

Turns out I am spending more than I ever did after I became a member here. The addiction is real and out of control.

Tell me about it. I have 2 laptops, an AIO PC, an iPad, a Android Tablet, a Blackberry Playbook, Android Phone, iPhone, Nokia Phone, 2 X Wifi hotspots, about 6 headphones, 4 earphones, about 20 X t-shirts and 3000 buisness cards from the previous free $20/$30 vistaprint coupons … do i keep going

  • the rampant spending and the need to do so is an indication of a desire to feel like you have control over something when, underneath it all, you subconsciously lack the self belief of personal mastery.

Yes… well put but I believe the situation is more complex than this. I think it is a diagnosable sickness called… I luff bargains:)
