Hi all,
After seeing a few posts on Ozbargain, I installed and used Delivery Hero somewhere mid-August, and liked it a lot.
But here's the strange thing:
Since around that time, I had been receiving spam on 5 of my email addresses and aliases. Some addresses are known to almost nobody, and difficult to guess. There is certainly nobody who knows them all. I am talking about a significant increase in spam, with the same spam sent to each of my aliases at the same time. According to Google there was also an account access by a "Mac" (from my router's IP address) the day after I installed the Delivery Hero app (perhaps the same day due to timezone). But I do not own any Apple device!
The only thing I did around this time was install and use Delivery Hero. I checked the permissions on this app, and find them possibly excessive. They include:
- use accounts on the device
- create accounts and set passwords
- read Google service configuration
Did this application log into my account on my behalf in a non-standard way, identify itself as "Mac", and read all my account's email aliases? I uninstalled Delivery Hero, and ran an Avast scan, which returned nothing.
I know there are some very tech-savy people on Ozbargain, and I would love to hear your feedback.
