eBay 50% OFF BBQ Deal - CHARGED FULL PRICE?!

After purchasing a BBQ off eBay for $349.95 and taking 50% ($174.99). Checked my ING bank, I've been charged full price! Check your banks! Anyone else?

  • Item was an actual BBQ
  • Was in the BBQ category
  • Paid, and processed that day

Points to note: First transaction clearly shows there was money remaining in the account so the payment 100% was not declined. The second transaction shows the money after the transaction was not in there and went into negative.

I checked PayPal. It definitely does state that the other 50% was used with the 50% off code…

Update

Some ING accounts have been charged double. Tech support are working on it.

    yes it will say it charged full on ebay and paypal..

    but if you re check your bank account you will find you only to charged half.

  • Holy shitty!! Have u checked paypal transaction? Does it say $174.99 ebay voucher and $174.99 from ur card?

    Did u have more $$ then $350 in the bank previously?

    Click on the + sign next to the transaction, it might say pending or something and the top one is when its all processed…

    • Going back through the bank logs. It shows there was enough in the bank account so the $174.99 was successful. It also shows(as per the image) after that transaction there was a remainder of $124.14. This is also backed up by the last transaction of $22.00 transfered from my other ING to this one, which had taken the total to $299.12 (Take away $174.99) you get $124.14 which is the remainder after the first charge.

      The 2nd change is a different transaction with another receipt number.

        Might get 2 delivered to ur door soon.

        Otherwise just wait a few days until everything is cleared and recheck it.
        Dont deposit or withdraw any $$ from that account anymore for few days untill sorted..

  • Not good, and I bet you've been charged a "negative balance" fee from ING?

  • Maybe eBay believe it was deceitful.. like you bought it off someone you knew in order to share the profit you would make off the eBay transaction (you pay $175, they get $350 = $175 profit - fees so you'd end up with around $130.)

    I'd just call them and ask why it was rejected and yeah..

    I was recently double charged by CommBank. Made a purchase online which was processed through PayPal. One payment went through in my bank account, while a duplicate transaction remained pending (but had taken the funds out of my account already). I called CommBank and they denied it was their problem - told me to take it up with PayPal or the merchant. So I did. They said it had only gone through once on their systems.

    Took over a week and a half for CommBank to finally admit it was a technical glitch on their end which double charged me. Luckily it was reversed within 12 hours of them admitting the error, or I would've been extra peeved. Glad I check my account daily. Sneaky bastards.

  • ING have double posted my transactions over the weekend and Im in -ve now…almost $150 over 3 purchases doublecharged

  • Hi Moots, I just checked my ING and have also been double charged for a few in-store transactions that I have completed over the last few days. They have now been credited back onto my account. Looks like there was some sort of glitch in their system over the weekend.

  • Me tooo!!! I just checked my ing and i gotcdouble charged and they refunded ne today.. I didnt even have to call it was auto, they know there mistakes so they fixed it for everyone i think

  • Its an ING issue, I've also been double charged on Purchase made Monday. 2nd time this year they have done it. give them a call and check it out just to be safe.
