This bargain not for the faint hearted OZBargainer! This amount could be my next 3 year funds with crap all around me from OZBargain!
This is a professional camera, you probably shouldn't be buying this unless you can use it to make more money and then claim it back on tax.
yeah the GST is worth about $294 on that baby
they have 15% off Nikon atm
Also consider that the cheaper D750 is rumoured to be announced in the coming weeks with some very good specs.. personally I would hold on a purchase until that is announced.
If I needed a new camera body, I'd go straight to eGlobal or DWI.
Ted's is one of the places I go to window shop / trial products before I buy them.I dunno

$2999 + minimum $50 eco shipping = $3049
Teds =$3239.91 (with postage) OR $3229.96 if u pickup?Difference = $190.
IF you take it overseas :P and get the TRS back, that difference gets canned. GST =$294.
If not $190 for Australian Warranty is not too bad. If you got a D810 and are professional, you'd want a faster repair turnover than waiting to post it back to HK, and wait for a replacement or repairs.
Don't forget its over 1k so isn't there additional tax? Or is that already in the price?
They undervalue the declared import value. E.g my $2500 lens was declared as $900
Why take the risk? Not hard for Customs to look up the price of a D810. Clearly worth more than $1k.
For the difference of $190, I would have thought it was a no brainer. You could also try Michaels. I have had them price match imported prices.
I've bought quite a few items from Teds that are quite close, if not cheaper than overseas prices after bargaining using Australian prices. With Aussie prices with specials - 15% off these days, the difference is no longer worth it imo. Support the local guy. Notable exceptions though are lenses, which in general remain a ripoff even with discounts.
2-3 years ago, when price difference were in the $1000+ range, those days are slowly coming to an end from my observations.
Note: A lot of Ted stores are poor to deal with re: bargaining. I've got a good Teds store though, very honest and open to bargaining if you can produce evidence of Australian pricing that they can try match and beat.
I own a couple of pro/full frame nikon bodies.
The D810 is amazing, it's an entire stop or two of dynamic range over my D4 and has resolution verging on medium format cameras and costs thousands less.
It's a bargain if you need amazing optics and don't mind slow fps, so landscape and studio folks interested in optics that are so incredible that they will show up the differences between average and amazing lenses.
If you don't need that stuff or don't have pro lenses to utilise all that imaging, then you'd best look for a cheaper body suiting the mount type of your existing lens set.
When I retire my 2nd shooter, it will be either this or the D750.
You pay $3229.96 for the product and they can't throw in free shipping?!
