    Yes LED is legal in Australia, if you go to the lighting stores or hardware store, you will see they are selling LED bulbs/globes or LED kits with the bulbs with different ranges of watts including 12 watts or more/less.

    12Watt LED is equal to 20 watt CFL or 90 watt Incandescents.
