Howdy! I'm in the market for a simple All-in-1 desktop PC for the rents due to a lack of space. They're pretty good with computers and like to torrent and stream to their TV with a WDTV Live. Mum said she doesn't care so long as it plays Candy Crush (oh god). I had a look at JB HiFi today and it seems there's many in the below $600 range and above $1000 but none in between. I guess an i5 would be sufficient and 500gb+ HDD. I don't think I'll be able to find a SSD jobby for under $1000 which is my budget. I guess I'm just wondering if any of you have any tips when buying these PCs or have heard of any good deals? I'm gonna go into MSY tomorrow and see what they've got.

If you've really, really got your heart set on an All-In-One, I've had good luck with the recent Dell ones: http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-20-3043-aio/pd?oc=x210002a…
However, they're not as good bang-for-your-buck as the more conventional desktops.
What about the Gigabyte BRIX range? They are mountable behind a monitor. And they range from a basic Celeron, Core i5 and Core i7 with discrete graphics. For your mom, a Core i3 series will probably be sufficient.

Some suggestions
i5 Brix (Haswell) $439 — also note Core i3 version is $345 which is a hundred less.

4GB DDR3L Low voltage RAM module [$69](http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Corsair-4GB-DDR3L-1600MHz-PC-1280…) (note, the 8GB modules are about $90 dollars, which are significantly better bang for buck, so I would recommend going with 8G even though it may be far more than what is needed for a Candy Crush gaming desktop.
Windows 8.1 license (OEM) will set you back $115 from most stores.
Plus an 250 GB Crucial MSATA SSD $150
Plus any tv or monitor of your choosing with VESA holes at the back.
