Check out Target. Can't find it in their online store but pretty sure they still stock them. I have a 3 tier collapsible one for hanging clothes and another tall one with a peg thing at the top and arms in the middle for hangers, both bought from Target.
Have had them for approximately 3 years now and still as good as new. Should be below $50 for both.
had a look at target, they only had the cheapie 6$ frames :(
Can you post a link to a google pic of the type you're after? They come in various forms, don't they?
I have 3 racks in this style which were sub $50. Daily use for several (5+) years now. Not one single problem - no collapsing, no rust.
We have one like this out the back and it's rubbish - flimsy, the rack bends with wet jumpers and heavy clothes.. crapola. Steer clear unless it's a solid build.
The 3 rack one you mention is exactly what I am after. I've been using a few no name brand these over the past year, but i need a few more. the one kmart in similiar style for 25$ are complete shocker..
I have had a Hills Expandable Clothes Airer for years and it still does a great job. Can buy the same one at Bunnings, they are advertising on their website for $59.00, http://www.bunnings.com.au/hills-simplicity-plus-expandable-…
I have an upright 3 tier rack, mine is Hills brand, but Kmart have a similar one.
http://www.kmart.com.au/product/homemaker-3-tier-mobile-clot…I have both the Hills brand and the Kmart brand. The Hills brand is very old but works perfectly and doesn't fall apart.
The Kmart one is the one I bought in 2015 and won't lock into place like the Hills one. The racks are always falling down at the slightest movement. They just sit on the holder rather than being locked into place. It is also difficult to keep the frame at 90 degree angles.
Got this one from Howard's Storage 2.5 years ago, bit bigger in all dimensions than the crapola ones, very sturdy and strong, been great. fits a lot more on it. though it is much more expensive.
I bought mine for less than $20, from memory at Big W. Almost 5 years later it's as good as the day I bought it. What is the kmart one made from? Given my experience I wouldn't recommend spending much on them…Can't seem to locate it on their website though.
I had a look at bigw the decent one they had in the 3 rack style was 40$. it was very nice and had a steel finish.
I like the IKEA frost one ($19.95 in WA & SA).

We got our first one 5 years ago and it's been so useful and robust we have bought 2 more over the years since then (because we have young kids and lots of washing). We don't use anything else to dry our clothes on (I have never used my washing line) and almost always use it outdoors under cover on our back deck. All 3 are still going strong.do you find it prone to fall over if the weight of the laundry is not distributed properly?
It's never fallen over for me, but normally I have it/them completely full with lots of small items or one big item eg dona cover/sheet/big towel spread out over the whole thing.
Thanks for all you comments and suggestions, I did find something reasonable and well priced at masters, with the 10% coupons it worked out @ 22.5$.

be careful with this type,
the plastic over time will crack or break. you'll have to throw the hole thing out because you don't want you nice clothes to get caught in the broken plastic,
the ikea one mentioned above is a lot better,
http://www.ikea.com/aa/en/catalog/products/20244832/it has a metal frame with a wide stance and can withstand weather and sun a lot better than plastic coated ones. or ones with plastic on it.
that's my 2 cents worth,
good luck.I don't like the Kmart one either. I'm having the same problem as OP mentioned. It's $29 now and not worth the money. I don't have the receipt but I have photos of the barcode and packaging so I'm planning to complain soon.
I use these & know of several others who do also

they are not cheap…but they seem to be very robust!
