Sounds dangerous. jv, do you need to be orally irrigated?

    • +3

Seems that this deal has earned the 'jv approved seal'due to the fact that jv hasnt posted any comments yet

      • He doesn't even have his PM turned on so I can give him a nudge. I wonder if he knows he's being talked about.

  • +2

I was thinking about getting one of these but saw that there are ones that attach to the tap which go for much le$$ (and don't require electricity), perhaps someone could comment on the effectiveness of different types?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dental-Water-Floss-Oral-Irrigator…

    • Wish I had known about these before I bought my waterpik from discount chemist warehouse. I bought this one when it was on special http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=69480. Around $118 or so. Only a bit more than the battery powered version which only has two speeds. The Ultra has 10 speeds. As someone with braces (mid life crisis - I have the red car and will get the "ab pack" surgery next) it is fantastic. After brushing there are still bits that come out with water flossing.

However, please note that there are mixed comments from dentists and specialists about these that say water flossing shouldn't replace regular flossing. So, ask your dentist and see what they say.

Final note; be careful with the pressure. If it is too strong they can cause receding teeth as the gums become irritated.

  • How do you get it to US$30 delivered? It comes to US$32.57 for me.

    • Are you using the cheapest shipping option?

      • Just noticed it'd defaulted to a dearer option.

        With cheapest, US$29.67

  • +1

Good unit, though no replacement for floss of course.

    • +1

true, my dentist says that the floss has to actually physically touch between the tooth and gum

but can be used during the day between meals if you have gum recession and pockets between your teeth,

    • +18

      1) That never happens.

      2) Samsung and LG don't make water flossers.

      3) 'In before' or any of the variations of that term makes you look like a lonely troll.

      • +3

That was harsh, but I chuckled.

I bought one for US$38 delivered about a month ago..pretty good even at that price….powerful unit and be warned it can get a little messy when in use…(that'll teach me for not closing my mouth!)

PS Instructions advise NOT to use rechargeables…although I notice from Amazon feedback that someone is using them and no probs, at least in the short term.. If you do use your eneloops might pay to check them regularly just in case they start to corrode..

  • +4

I have one of these but can't remember how much I paid exactly.

Pretty effective and lasts for ages using my eneloops.

Yes it's very messy and no it's not as good as actual floss. However, it's easier to use than floss, better than not flossing at all, and better than just using an electric toothbrush.

    I would recommend this one.

Its a mini spaceship with a virtual time machine. Like the T.A.R.D.I.S it is small from the outside but huge from the inside. You need a license from Dr Who to drive this thing.

      • +2

you downvoted cause you didn't get what it does? :/

      • Why get downvoted all because someone asks an innocent question? I'm going to upvote it to bring it back from -2 to -1.

      • Why neg the deal Terry?

        • +1

He put in the time to make a post asking what it does, then waited on a reply rather than use google. I'd say what ever he does is never done right, and just leave it at that.

        • curious question… why can't people neg a deal without getting their comments removed, and/or their neg revoked?

Some deals are bad deals, and negs can potentially warn others.

I actually don't understand the point of the rating system if ones neg can be removed.

It seems like the equivalent of everyone on ebay having 100% positive feedback, because negs aren't allowed (get removed), and therefore meaningless.

          Can someone explain?

        • @Son ofa Zombie: negs are only removed because the community does not agree with your reason. Moderators rarely remove negs these days unless the reason is obviously invalid.

There are plenty of deals with negative votes:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/negvoted

  • good unit for $30.

  • +1

Never heard of these before but I think I will get one.
"Recent studies have demonstrated that it is superior to dental floss in reducing bleeding and as effective in reducing plaque"

I brought one over a year ago as suggested by the dentist and for the first time in years i haven't had many cavities! momey saved! I might get another one because for a replacement head/just in case. simular to waterpik but cheaper and no 110v issues with usa stuff..

  • +3

Product code EW-DJ10-A for some reason seems like engine oil grade to me. Water floss sounds better than oral irrigator I think

  • Do you remember when ecutpgd

STOP MAKING ME BUY THINGS OZBARGAIN!

    • +3

Oh just shush and buy it, then pile it up with all the other things you've bought and probably never going to use :D

    • This could potentially save you a lot of money in future dentist bills.

Think of it that way :)

    • It's worth it. It really is.

  • -1

Can this be re purposed for a colonic irrigation?

  • +1

Didnt know a product like this existed. Didnt need it. Dont have any gum or teeth issues. But still ended up buying it. DAMN you ozbargain

  • Great price. bought 2 for $54.35.

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

    Unavailable to ship to Sydney.
    =(

    • uh.. i can get another set for $35 AUS exclude ship.. i dont know what i am doing wrong.

  • Sigh…added to the pile lol. Thanks

  • Thanks OP. I bought one….

  • Thanks OP - ETA dates keep changing lol.

  • Was waiting for Kogan to reduce water flosser to $42 again but now might get this. Just need it within 2 weeks and doubt I'd get it from US to Perth within 20 days or so. Mail is so slow from there sometimes.

Edit: damn must have missed the 60% off as it's only 31% off now. US$49.99 down to US$34.50. Goldbox Deal is now rubbermaid containers.

CamelCamelCamel says it's the lowest today at $21.99 so it must be giving me AUD price. But US$22 going to AUD$34.50 is a really, really bad exchange rate (like $0.64 not $0.93). Oh well just have to get the Kogan one on Amex to get the $50 back on $250 spend.

    • +1

US $22 is without shipping and the $34 AUD was shipped with less expensive options.

      • Oh I see, thanks. Makes sense now. Wish OP stated the AUD with postage price also.

  • -2

Thanks OP bought 3 $79 USD shipped to Sydney.

    • -1

      Why the neg???

    • I bought 2 for 55

  • +1

    Price gone up to $34.50?

  • Mine arrived yesterday. Quite a fun little tool. I hate flossing, so this really helps me out.

Pro tip: Don't tilt it away from your teeth and hit your tonsils, hurts like a bitch.
