Sell "Tickets" Online

This may be a long shot, but here goes…

I'm on a council, and we sell tickets every year for a fundraising event that we host. Every year we sell this tickets face-to-face, or at the door. I think sales may increase if we have an online option for people to buy tickets online, just because of the increased convenience. This may also prevent those who wait to buy at the door, but then come up with an excuse that night if they're not up for it.

So, my questions essentially is: Does anyone know of a SAFE and PROFESSIONAL website/platform/app that could be used to see tickets to an event?

Unfortunately, cost is an issue, however, I'm open to all ideas at this point.

Thank you very much in advance!

  • When we were doing the OzBargain meetup we looked into Meetup and Eventbrite. Eventbrite seemed more suited to selling tickets to events. I see it being used for smaller type events.

    • Will definitely look into these…thanks Neil!

    • Ya, Eventbrite looks great, unfortunately I'm not sure if our association can handle the fees at the moment (we're a small not-for-profit, so budget can be tight)

      As per Eventbrite's website:
It's free for organisers to use Eventbrite as long as you're not charging for tickets! There are no monthly charges, enrollment costs, or setup fees. For every ticket you sell using Eventbrite, we charge 2.5% of the ticket value plus $0.99 per ticket sold in Australian dollars.

      • If people are going to be paying online, then you'll incur similar fees. You could always just offer the options. E.G., say your tickets are $10 normally.

        • Use Eventbrite for immediate tickets via CC/Paypal. $13.50 for a ticket
        • Simple web form which takes a persons info and then they need to pay via bank transfer. $10 Cut if off say 3 or 4 days before the event, so all transfer will be confirmed before event.

As you are a council, don't you have any online services for paying parking tickets/rates etc?

  • ticketek, moshtix? expect extortonate fees though

  • +1
