ASUS USB-N13 802.11n 300Mbps Wireless Network Adapter $9.18 Pickup @ Mwave

160

Postage is $8.95 so this is only a good deal for locals who are able to pickup from store.

Next cheapest price I could find is $18 at MSY.

Edit: Looks like they only allow checkout with PayPal and there is a 2% fee involved so it's $9.18 and not $9. Sorry.

Excellent price for a branded 300Mbps USB adapter. Probably put 300Mbps in the title, because many "cheapies" are 150Mbps only. Pity shipping is $9 for me.

Added. Thanks for the suggestion :)

  • i have this, one thing i must say is that it doesn't work well with win7 hibernations. You might need to unplug/plug it back to make windows remember that it still have this attached.

might be a windows issue (highly likely…)

    • It's probably the power option in Windows that allows USB ports to be turned off. Try changing it so that the ports can't be turned off (power options). Although that will impact the duration of the battery and hibernation if you're changing it on a portable device.

      • Nah. Its off. It's on a desk top anyway.

  • I can highly recommend these for $3 USD from eBay:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-150Mbps-802-11N-G-B-USB-2-0-WiF…

I bought one — it worked so well I bought another as backup.

But do your own research and due diligence. YMMV.

that one is 150Mbps, as opposed to 300Mbps one in this deal.

      • Is there any difference in terms of normal usage??? Or the 300 one can search wifi signal twice as far as the 150??

My internet download speed is about 6mb max, any download speed difference??

        • If you transfer a lot of files between computers on your local network then the 300Mbps adapter will get the job done in half the time.

Won't make any difference to your internet speed.

        • @kamoi: From what I understand, a 300Mbps adaptor will give you better speed for the same distance. So if you're having issues streaming over a long distance for example, a 300Mbps might work better.

    • That's a great deal! But somehow i'd prefer the Asus one…Brand Power, i guess???

I bought one from an eBay seller in Australia couple months ago and it didn't come with drivers.

I looked up the Hardware Id in device manager and thanks to Google was able to find a compatible driver (Realtek RTL8188ETV), but it's a bit dated.

      Driver Date: 25/03/2013
      Driver Version: 1023.6.225.2013

Did yours come with drivers and/or have you managed to find anything more recent?

      • The picture on eBay shows a driver CD

        • So did the one I bought, but the seller said they were just using stock photos and didn't realize it was even shown there. lol

It's a good adapter. Only problem is every few days it loses connection with my router and I have to unplug and replug to get a connection again. I'm pretty certain it's a driver issue so would like to hear if belzecue has more recent drivers and if I could have them :D

I'd bought a non-antenna one a few weeks before — which was useless — so I'd already done the legwork finding a working win764 driver for the chipset. That was… ah, an experience. Lots of crosschecking .inf files and such. I'll grab the deets when I get home and post a file/link.

Mos def it's not a replacement for wired when it comes to transferring files around the home network, but there's always the fallback of fast usb stick sneakernet. It has been rock solid as my gaming PC LAN device — as good a ping/rate (speedtest.net) as my former wired network, which frankly I did not believe until I saw the proof. Zero dropouts. Mind you, I switched to wireless channel 1 to ensure no overlapping with neighbors and such, and the signal doesn't fluctuate hardly at all.

But yes, YMMV. Pay for what you need, obviously.

    Ordered one online
waiting for the Email for Pickup
    Thanks

  • Appears to have many issues regarding setup, installation and connection. Cheap though.
