Just realised I ran out of AA batteries.
I only use them for my xbox controller.
Are eneloops that much better than any other brand?
Should I wait for the next Eneloop deal or just get any rechargable AA?
Comments
Why are they so good?
Good capacity, low self discharge, so they still have decent charge if you don't use them for a few weeks.
should I buy their charger as well?
I have an old NiMh charger from like 2003.@talismansa:
Not the crappy Eneloop charger.. it's just as good as your old one.@scubacoles:
Cool. Thanks!@talismansa:
Make sure you have a charger that has 4 individual charging circuits. Some chargers only work when you have 2 or 4 batteries connected. These wont charge them effectively in thr long run because the circuit will cut out when the fullest battery in a pair is completed and other may still only be at 85%. So double check that before buying.@talismansa:
This is the sort of chager you should be checking for https://master-instruments.com.au/products/63335/K-KJ16MCC4T…
Check your local Battery World store for this type of charger. Dont skimp on a charger. Biggest mistake I used to see when selling batteries.@Karlos101:
I have a Varta 15 minute NiMH quick charger. Do you know if this would damage my Eneloops? Is it better to buy a Eneloop 2 hour quick charger?@makebei: the varta 15 minute chargers only charge varta batteries in 15 minutes due to a integrated circuit in the battery itself. And from memory they only charge batteries in pairs.
depends on which eneloop charger it is exactly.
Definitely better than other brands you'll get locally.
And by the time Hobby King get stock and ship their Turnigy brand, there's likely to have been an Eneloop sale.Turnigys are in stock and have higher mah cap for similar prices!
2400/2550mAh Vs 2000 for the eneloops that are always on special!Irrelevant. Even though other batteries have a higher rated capacity, eneloops have A different internal structure whixh means they dont drop as far in voltage under load. So in the instance of say a digital camera, per shot the eneloops have much better voltage recovery. I used to sell them when I worked at battery world, the amount of photographers we had coming in to buy more eneloops because they out performed higher capacities was unbelievable.
The only time you will benefit from 2500 mAh batteries is if you take them straight from the charger and use them straight away. Also 2500mah batteries cant be recharged as many times in the long run.

Turnigys are also LSDs.
Totally relevant, the O.P. is using this for an xbox controller, not a speedlite.
Hence this is irrelevantSo in the instance of say a digital camera, per shot the eneloops have much better voltage recovery.
See tests here:
http://budgetlightforum.com/node/9312Hence TURNIGYS are a totally viable alternative for the O.P. who's purpose is to use them in an xbox controller.
@cwongtech: its called an example buddy. The eneloops would still beat the 2400/2500s if they arent LSD.
It'll still be 20-30 days before you see them though.
Hobby King shipping isn't fast.8 days for me, I ordered 19th Aug, received 27th Aug, so 1.5-2 weeks for delivery.
Not bad for everyday prices.@cwongtech:
Wow they've improved significantly then!@scubacoles:
Strangely mine had a Auspost eParcel label on the top, but it had a different sticker underneath it as well.It wasn't an item in stock in the Aus Warehouse (Turnigy AA 2550mAh)
I highly suspect they are moving a large amount from the HK warehouse to the Aus Warehouse using a faster method (in bulk), then getting the Aus Warehouse to slap a new label onto it and dispatching it again from there.
You can't wait, like, 5 minutes? :)
no need to wait mate come collect off me as new with invoice
