Basmati is generally considered to be the best rice among all my friends and family.
It is also easier to cook than most other rice in my experience, with less likelihood of going gluggy.

Also in terms of the taste, it has this great earthy, nutty flavor. It does not stick unlike other types of rice and for health nerds, it has a lower GI.

  • Basmati rice (aromatic Long grain) is very good but the best rice I have ever tasted is either "Chinigura" or "Kalijira" rice variants (short grain, very aromatic). They are grown only in few places of Bangladesh and are best for pilaf or biriyani.

I do buy them from the local Bangladeshi grocery stores, expensive but worht the money.

  • A little bit expensive for my tastes, but just ordered a new top of the line rice cooker from a brother in China. Can't wait to try it out, thanks op!
