That movie ticket offer needs it's own post.

Buy $50 visa for Around $56.95
    Claim free ticket
    Use $50 visa to repeat.

Cost of movie ticket $6.95 , doesn't say it excludes 3D either, anyone know?

    • It would I would think. Added it to title. found site on deal

I showed that to my partner this morning, she said it's too much mucking around - she is not a true ozbargainer! When I looked I'm pretty sure the administration fee of the gift card was $5.95 as well, so even better value. I thought of buying 2 gift cards at once then using $5 off voucher from $100 spend however the fine print states excludes gift cards unfortunately.

      • It works. Good plan.

With ING cashback would mean free movie tickets

          @tonka:

The $5 off $100 spend works?

          Can someone confirm this? :0

        • @Chthonic: You mean someone besides me? Up until a few months ago I did this every week.

      • How do we get $5 for $100? Any coupon for that?

        • Tell coles survey. Search OB, I believe an altruistic OBer has uploaded a copy.

"Movie voucher value excludes 3D/Real D and VMAX surcharge which is in addition to the ticket price and payable by you."

    • Why is it 56.95?

      • deleted incorrect info

      • it costs 6.95 for the card alone with no money.

        • Ok thanks I'll correct the above

Can you cash out the Visa gift card at an ATM fee free?

    • +1

T and C…'to be eligible for one free movie voucher. Limit of 5 free movie vouchers per person applies during the Promotional Period.' So seems you can rinse and repeat this 5 times? With Adult General Admission (my local Hoyts at least) being around $17.50, this sounds like it's worth the hassle.

      • So can you buy multiples and receive multiple vouchers on the same docket?

        • No, its one free ticket per transaction.

          Just split them up!

      • Just keep in mind the Visa card will say it cannot be used until the following day. Not tried same day myself.

    • A lot of work to save $2.
Tickets around me are $7.50 to $9.

      • $21 for me so very much worth the 5 mins..

  • Pffft. No Werribee Plaza on the cinema list!

    Stupid construction.

  • Up & Go on sale… score! While it's not the cheapest price will still stock up. Thanks OP

  • thanks op

  • Sistema 50% off where I am tomorrow!

I'm sick and tired of spending money when I'm out, so I'm dividing the $5/kg beef mince at Coles up into little portions. Also pre-cooking rice and will split that up into portions as well. Going to buy a big container for my oats as well, about 6c a serve.

    Money saving, here I come!

Is there a movie youd want to watch playing now?

Does the event cinemas gift card come with a fee like the visa one?

    • +1

No, the Event Cinemas gift card doesn't come with a fee. Nor do any other cards for that matter (to my knowledge, it is only the Visa cards that has activation fee).

  • Dammit, bought one of these gift cards today thinking the offer started today.

Anyone know if they'll give a refund?

  • Just got my $50 Only 1 visa prepaid card.

Can confirm that it's $55.95 for $50 card.

Paywave so makes it a $3.15 movie ticket.

My 1 item transaction only contained the single card and my receipt also had a 4c fuel docket so added bonus.

No idea why I need to check the associated box to post!

    • +1

$4.83 ticket for us 2 percenters.

That's good re fuel voucher means that you should earn Flybuys points as well.

      • +1

The last time Coles had a promotion on these Visa cards I purchased a couple and got base flybuys points as well as bonus points.

  • I have purchased one only1 visa card and registered online in sunday. I am still waiting for the free tickets…It is over 48h.

  • Or this is another option, buy Village Cinemas gift card using ING to save 5%. You can use this gift card to buy the $11 Telstra Village Cinemas movie ticket. That way you don't have to pay any fee ;)

I sometimes buy this anyway to save the extra 5% on Telstra movie ticket.

  • Done some calculation with previous people's work to make it sort of a summary as below,

    VISA 1 Gift Card $50 + Fee $5.95
With ING paywave discount 5% it will cost you total $53.15 for a $50 visa card and movie ticket!!!! (Cost you only $3.15!)

You might even be able to buy another round using your $50 gift card so you won't get a big stack of gift cards in the end. (You then only paywave $5.95 to make it $5.65 per extra ticket. See if you want cheap tickets or conveniences!)

The village cinema gift card with Telstra movie tickets will cost you
$47.5 after ING paywave and you get $50 village gift card = 4.5 movie tickets + 1 free ticket. The avg cost per ticket will become around $8.6 per ticket.

    • How about these figures which worked for me since I need to buy $240 (3x $80) of giftcards today.

Buy 3x $50 Giftcards (not Visa prepaid)indivudually, gives 3 free movie tix.
Buy 2x $30 Giftcards as a set and get another free movie tix.
Repeat Buy 2x $30 Giftcards as a set and get another free movie tix.

All paid for using ME Bank card too

I end up with a $30 movie giftcard and 5 free tickets. (value of each ticket is $11 considering this is what I could get it for from Telstra)

Plus the 5% saving on the $270 purchase.

      Hows that?

  • Good deal, but how the hell do they justify the $5.95 admin fee for a gift card? Never heard of anything so ridiculous.
