WD NAS vs Dlink NAS

Like many others my NAS hopes are in tatters.

I had the 6TB WD Live Duo pegged initially before being cancelled. An alternative I'm considering is the Dlink DNS-320L and putting in two 2TB WD red drives for about the same price as the 6TB Live Duo.

I'm not too concerned about the difference in capacity however the difference in web access apps is something I want to consider.

An up-side to the Dlink angle is the HDD are Red versions, this might be enough of a positive to negate capacity even though 2TB drives should be plenty for me.

My NAS usage will be data backup and redundancy(RAID1), media serving and I'd like good web access to NAS contents.

Thoughts ?

Thank you

  • take a look at the WD Cloud solution. most NAS's now have cloud access.

the net gear 2 bay NAS (i have ) is awesome and does the job. also it is VERY quiet and i don't even know its on most times. yes the drives go to sleep… but its great value

  • Try Synology, these IMO have the best OS
You can stop excessive head parking in Greens, effectively making them WD red drives when used in NAS
